The Civil Rights Movement
By: Cassidy Johnson
The Civil Rights Movement was a mass movement of the African Americans. The movement helped the African Americans to have the same laws as the rest of America. The civil rights movement contributed to making the United States a more equal and just society by achieving many goals. Such as desegregating public places and equal voting rights. By using non violent tactics such as sits ins, marches and boycotts the African Americans hard work finally paid off.
Sit Ins
Protest Marches
The third march started March 21. It was protected by 2,000 soldiers of the U.S. Army, 1,900 members of the Alabama National Guard under Federal command, and many FBI agents and Federal Marshals, the marchers averaged 10 miles a day along, known in Alabama as the "Jefferson Davis Highway". 25,000 people entered the capital city that day in support of voting rights.

Waiting On The World To Change
"Now we see everything that's going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it"
I think these lyrics represent the Civil Rights perfectly. Everyone makes them feel like they don't have the means to make the laws equal. But they eventually did.
