Adult Novels
As well as having a large collection of young adult fiction, our library has titles that have been published for an adult audience, but are appealing to teens. Many are critically-acclaimed bestsellers and prize winners. You may have already read some yourself. Please let your students know that we have them, and NPHS staff may check them out, too (even over the summer break)!
Google in Education
Dedicated educators are also students, and summer is the perfect time to take a course. Show your commitment to lifelong learning by completing an educator qualification that demonstrate your mastery of the basics of Google’s online tools. In-depth online courses are offered free from Google to help you. Upon becoming individually qualified, you’ll receive a certificate. You’ll also be more effective at making the best use of Google products within your classroom.
Goodreads
A citation and research management tool
We currently have a free trial with EasyBib School Edition, and it has proven to be helpful for students taking notes and organizing research. The English department has reviewed it and given it their approval, so it is likely that we will purchase it next year for use across the curriculum.
EasyBib School Edition is an intuitive citation and research management tool allowing users to create bibliographies, take notes and create outlines on a web-based platform. It is a digital venue for students to do the traditional thinking and processing involved in research. Our goal would be better researched and better organized final papers.
Cite: Create bibliographies with MLA, APA, and Chicago citation styles. Cite 59 different source types. Gale databases can export citations to EasyBib.
Organize: Create digital notecards and dynamic outlines. The notebook helps students to synthesis their research. It scaffolds the note taking process. It distinguishes between quoting and paraphrasing. Note cards can be color coded, tagged, dragged around the screen. The note cards are used to formulate the outline.
Search: Embedded links provide direct access to the library’s resources.
Share: Collaborate with group members by entering email addresses. Teachers can view students’ projects (bibliography & notes) and add comments.
Free educator resources: live product training webinars, professional development webinars, infographics, flyers, handouts, videos.

Lunchtime: Beginning Wednesday, June 4, the library will be closed for lunch.
