Parthenon
The Temple on top of the Acropolis
What Year was it built?
The Parthenon started to have work done on it in 447 BC. It's known as a Donic peripteral temple for Athena. Athena had two temples that were built on top of the Acropolis, and the Parthenon was built to replace them.
Who built it?
The person who built the the Parthenon was Perikles. Thanks to Perikles we have a museum to tell us a little bit about the Ancient Greek's culture. Unfortunately the Parthenon was partially destroyed in 1687.
