April is here!
Saint Rita Families,
I can't believe we are already in the second week of April. There are so many events coming in the next six weeks, please check the school calendar regularly to keep up!
This week, we are happy to share some of our recent student successes. Our Wildcat baseball team has made some excellent plays and is growing in skill and determination. Our students represented Saint Rita well at the PSIA One Act Play on March 23 and the District Competition on March 30 placing in multiple events. Congratulations to Elena Venegas and Gabriel Villarreal who quailified to compete at the PSIA State competition at TCU. Our track team performed exceptionally at the first middle school track meet last weekend. See below for the list of award winners.
Finally, we were so pleased that our students were able to participate in the sacrament of reconciliation this week. We thank Father Bart for coming to Saint Rita to hear confessions. He commented on the strong spiritual relationship our students had with God. He told me that the students expressed a desire to go to confession more frequently. Please talk to your students about the special graces we receive when we participate in this sacrament, and take opportunities to go to confession as a family.
Next week is Holy Week, so we will have a noon dismissal on Holy Thursday and the school is closed for Good Friday and Easter Monday. Please see below for the Mass Schedule at Saint Rita.
Have a joyful week!

In the Spirit of Spirit Games!
COME OUT APRIL 28 TO NOLAN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL FOR BBQ COMPETITION!!
As you all know, every year, typically in April, the Diocese teams up with the Stephen Breen Foundation to run Spirit Games up at Nolan Catholic. This year, due to the construction at Nolan, the original idea of Spirit Games was being postponed until next year. However, instead of the full fledge carnival and field day, this year we are inviting everyone to a BBQ competition held on April 28! In order to do so, we will need some BBQ competitors!
We are looking for 12-15 teams, hoping for one representative per school. The teams will be judge on their Brisket, Pork Ribs, and/or Chicken (labeled and/or because each team only needs to submit one of the meats, but can, and is recommended to, submit all three)!
Competitors will be able to arrive by 10 AM on Saturday, April 27 and stay the night at Nolan in order to ensure they are able to get their best results! On April 28, the competition will begin with Mass at 11 AM in the Nolan Catholic Auditorium. Then at Noon, the gates open to the public to come around and try the best BBQ the Diocese has to offer! Judging will begin at 1 PM.
There is no entry fee to compete, but each team will be providing food for all attendees at the event!
It will be $10 a ticket with a $50 max for families when preregistered at www.stephenbreenmemorialfoundation.org
It will be $15 a ticket with a $50 max for families at the gate at Nolan Catholic.
