WELCOME BACK!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome Back! As we kick off the new school year, I wanted to take a moment to emphasize our commitment to the safety and security of our students, staff, and school community.

Ensuring a secure learning environment is a top priority, and we have implemented a comprehensive set of safety measures to achieve this goal. One important aspect of our safety strategy is the use of Standard Response Protocols (SRPs). These protocols provide clear and consistent guidelines for various emergency situations, allowing our students and staff to respond effectively should the need arise. To learn more about the protocols, click on the link: SRP Parent Information (English)

SRP Parent Information (Spanish)

Our school staff has undergone thorough training to familiarize themselves with these protocols, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle an emergency situation. We will also conduct drills throughout the year to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the procedures. This proactive approach builds muscle memory which helps maintain a calm and organized response during emergencies.

Remember, your involvement is crucial in maintaining a safe environment. We encourage you to talk to your children about the importance of following safety protocols, both at school and in other settings. Additionally, please keep your contact information up to date so that we can reach you quickly in case of an emergency.

Thank you for your continued support. Please contact me directly if you have questions about our safety protocols. Let's embark on another successful school year with safety as our foundation.

Sincerely,

Carole Oliphant

Payments

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your unwavering support of our students, teachers, and staff.

We are writing to inform you about important changes to the Infinite Campus (IC) platform that will impact student payments. Beginning July 2023, the integration between IC and RevTrak will no longer be supported by IC. As a result, all fees assigned in IC, including course, materials, and iPad fees will no longer show up in Revtrak and will need to be paid directly in IC through Campus Payments. RevTrak may still be used for clubs, field trips, and other payments of fees not assigned in IC.

Families can make payments using Campus Payments. Please visit this link for instructions on how to pay outstanding fees in Infinite Campus.

Again thank you for your continued partnership. We appreciate your understanding as we make this transition. If you have any questions regarding fees or Campus Payments, please contact your school’s front office and they will be able to support you.

Sincerely,

Department of Finance and District Technology Services

100 mile club

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to Prairie Ridge Elementary. It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce the return of our 100 Mile Club during the 2023-2024 school year. For those of you who are new to Prairie Ridge or are considering joining the program for the first time, I strongly encourage you to give it a chance. It is a great opportunity for your students to improve their health awareness, social well-being, and build self-confidence as they reach goals along the way.

As students reach milestones along the way they will be awarded with incentives. At the completion of the first 25 miles, your student will receive a 100 Mile Club t-shirt. Once your student reaches 50 miles they will receive a pencil. Upon reaching 75 miles, your student earns a wristband. Finally, when your child reaches 100 miles, they will be awarded a medal which will be received at the end of the year ceremony.

The registration cost for 100 Mile Club is $25 per runner this year. Parents are also encouraged to sign up if interested for an additional $25. If your student qualifies for the free ($6.25) or reduced ($12.50) lunch program, they can qualify for the program at a reduced rate which is listed in parentheses above.

We will begin 100 Mile Club this year starting on Monday, August 28th, 2023. It will run until April 25th, 2024. The days and times we will run will be DIFFERENT from previous years and are listed below.

Mondays - 8:15-8:45 AM
Tuesdays - 8:15-8:45 AM

Thursdays - 8:15-8:45 AM

In the event of inclement weather, we will host 100 Mile Club indoors and students will walk laps through the halls. However, we will make every effort possible to be outside as often as we can be. Typically we host outdoors as long as the wind chill is above 20 degrees. In the fall mornings the grass is sometimes wet, so an older, extra pair of socks and tennis shoes is highly encouraged, but not required.

We have switched over to the ONLINE ONLY registrations this year. As part of the online registration you will pay through Revtrak at Prairie Ridge 100 MC registration .

If you have any further questions, please contact Mr. Cruise. I am available from 9:05-9:45 Monday-Friday to answer any questions or offer help with registration tasks, or you may contact me via email at any time.

Sincerely,
Kolby Cruise

COLORADO ELEMENTARY ALL- STATE CHOIR

The Colorado Elementary All-State Choir (CEASC) offers 4th and 5th grade students in Colorado a chance to perform alongside the best upper elementary school singers across the state in one of two elite ensembles: Vivace and Presto. CEASC requires students to audition at their respective schools with a prepared piece ("America") and demonstrate their technical skills through aural recall and harmonic singing.

The one-day festival is held at a local school in Colorado Springs where students rehearse at Cheyenne Mountain High School followed by a performance with 250+ similarly talented, motivated, and dedicated singers under the direction of elite clinicians from around the country. The culminating concert is held at the International Hall of The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.

Participation in the event requires a $60 registration fee to be paid upon the posting of the audition results. This fee helps cover the expenses of the choir including the registration as well as the cost of the choral octavos (sheet music), the conductors’ honorarium, travel, rehearsal and performance facilities, performance shirt, etc.

We are thrilled that your child is considering auditioning for the 11th annual CEASC event! Please click on the Google Form LINK to complete the audition sign-up process and select your preferred audition day and window of time.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Keller

Gifted and Talented Referrals

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.

The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
