Sunday Message
Week of 12/17/18
Greetings Twelve Bridges Elementary Families,
It's the last week before our winter break! Thank you for sharing your children with us every day and making Twelve Bridges Elementary such a special place to be.
Remember that every day this week is a 1:40 pm early release day and there is no school on Friday.
I'd like to thank Mrs. Bremner and all of the parent volunteers for their hard work and long nights running the Book Fair. The kids love visiting the Book Fair and participating in Mrs. Bremner's daily contests for free books! It was great seeing so many of our students assist Mrs. Bremner as part of our first ever Junior Book Fair Crew!
The students did an excellent job in their Winter Performances! Thank you to our music teachers, Mrs. Gale and Ms. Harp, for making them a success. I'd also like to thank our custodians, Mr. Andy and Mr. Sean for the extra effort they put it in around the busy holiday season.
This week, we are going to have a holiday themed spirit day on Wednesday. Students can wear their ugly holiday sweaters, Santa hats, elf ears, reindeer antlers, red or green, or anything else they can think of to show their holiday spirit. I'm looking forward to seeing the students and staff all decked out!
As we are in the full swing of the busy holiday season, it is the people we love and care about that make this time so special. Please take a minute to review the safety reminders and announcements below to help ensure our students are safe.
Have a great week!
With gratitude,
Mr. Middleton
Safety Reminders and Announcements
At Twelve Bridges Elementary School, our top priority is the safety of our students. With that, I have some important announcements and reminders in regards to the safety of our students.
First, we have had a few close calls in the parking lot. Some students are being dropped off in the left hand lane of our parking lot. This forces them to cross in front of cars in the right hand lane. Also, students are being dropped off in the far part of our parking lot (near Eastridge Drive) and are walking unattended across the crosswalk in front of the school. That crosswalk (in front of the main office) does not have a crossing guard and is intended for adults or adults accompanying their children. Please drop your students off at the sidewalk directly in front of the school in the right hand lane only, or park and walk your students across the crosswalk.
Supervision starts on campus at 7:55 am. Students who arrive earlier (with the exception of students attending STAR or students getting breakfast at 7:45 am) are left unsupervised.
Due to staffing, TBE is only able to provide supervision at the back gate from 7:55-8:10 am. Starting in January, the back gate will be locked at 8:10 am to ensure that students are safe and that no unauthorized adults come onto campus. I understand the inconvenience this may cause some families, but it is important that we take all precautions to make student safety a priority. For the rest of this week, the back gate will be closed, but left unlocked, at 8:10. I will be by to lock the gate around 8:15 am or shortly after. I apologize for this inconvenience and I appreciate your understanding.

1st and 2nd Grade Information about Holiday Parties
This year instead of a traditional classroom holiday party, the first and second grade classes thought they would do something to help others in need. What better way to teach our children how to think of others than to give to others. In the spirit of giving, we have decided to create stocking stuffer bags for children who have been affected by the recent Camp Fire in the Paradise/Chico area, as well as our local homeless. Many of these children will not have the type of Christmas our own children enjoy. We thought we could help by providing some basic daily items as well as small Christmas gifts. As you are out doing your own holiday shopping, please consider gathering items to donate for this charity. Please see the flyers below for each grade level for more information. Contact your child's teacher if you have any additional questions.
Donation List: (these are suggested items)
- Toys: action figures, trivia/memory games, small games, small dolls/clothing, dress up, purses
- Art Supplies
- Everyday items: socks, knit hats, gloves, toothbrush/toothpaste, brushes/combs, soaps, lip balm, hair ties
