Hatchet
By Gary Paulsen
Important part
When Brian was attacked by a porcupine in his shelter made of rock. He threw his hatchet, but missed since it was dark outside. But, his hatchet hit the rock and made a spark. The next day he found little black parts in the rock. When he hit these parts a shower of sparks came down. This is how he figured out to make a fire. This is important because without fire he couldn't have cooked food and have warmth. It also kept animals like porcupines away at night.
SUMMARY: When Brian was on the way to his dads in a plane the pilot had a heart attack. He then had to fly it by himself. He landed it in a lake and was rescued a few months later.
