The Northern Soldier

The Union army was a the most prepared for the war. But not all of the soldiers in the civil war started out as a soldier. Most of them started out as farmers. The war was tough on all soldiers on both sides. Food was scarce, family was missed, and long hours spent at guard duty only added to the harshness of war.

The Southern Soldier

The Confederate army was smaller and less prepared than the Union. The only way that they stood a chance against the Union, was the minie balls. They were a destructive bullet that caused many deaths in the civil war.


Abraham Lincoln

President Abraham Lincoln believed that slaves should be freed. Most of the Union agreed with him. However, The southern states believed that the slaves should not be freed. This was how the civil war started.
