Blended Learning
Getting Ready for the "New Normal in Education"
Why Blended Learning?
With schools closing early for the 2019/20 school, now is the time to take a deeper dive into the "New Normal" for education. Blended Learning will become part of the education process for the fall of 2020. According to the USAToday.com Report, students will either start the school year with at-home learning, participate in some type of A/B schedule, or have flexible learning schedules.
First, we might want to define the different types of Blended Learning. I created a short video explaining the four Types of Blended Learning laid out by Michael Horn. The video will showcase what the "New Normal" for education might look like in the Fall of 2020.
Next, we need to come up with a plan for how to generate quality lesson plans that will work in a Social Distance school environment where students might be working in the classroom or at home virtually. By using a deployment guide for implementing Blended Learning, we can help school districts, schools, and educators to design blended learning lessons for the Fall of 2020.
Finally, we need to prepare for the COVID-19 Slide. According to the NWEA Report, students will return to school with more considerable learning loss than typical summer slide. In this video, I showcase the data in an animated way that showcases the predicted COVID-19 Slide. By implementing Blended Learning into all K-12 classrooms, we can help decrease the COVID-19 Slide.
