Yelm Community Schools

MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

We are excited to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2022. On June 7 at 6 p.m., we will host the annual Community Scholarship & Awards night where we recognize those entering the military and announce numerous financial awards. We are so proud of our students as they pursue continuing education and employment opportunities that take their career goals to the next level. A student's journey is personal and inspired by numerous experiences such as the Senior Grad Walk. On June 15, the Class of 2022 will visit our schools to thank their former teachers and encourage future graduates to reach for their dreams. The community is invited to join us for graduation which returns to the Tacoma Dome on June 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Lastly, we will celebrate the accomplishments of our staff, retirees and top 10 academic achievers at each school at School Board Honors and Awards Night on June 9 at 6 p.m. hosted at YHS Performing Arts Center.

Each of these celebrations will be in person and live streamed. Links are available below and on our district's website. Our student success is a success for the whole community.

Student Board Representatives

The school board has selected three outstanding Yelm High School students who applied to become student representatives on the board. We are pleased to announce that Damian Aalona, Madisyn Erickson and Lilly Williams will be installed next September into the junior representative positions. Current junior representatives Quentin Robinson and Ileana Wall will move into the senior positions next year.

The three students are all highly engaged in leadership activities and athletics at Yelm High School and have a strong passion for serving their peers. They are the third group of rising juniors to be selected since the board adopted student representatives in 2020. Congratulations to all of our student representatives, and we are thankful for your commitment to service.

STEMKamp

Yelm will be hosting the 2nd Annual STEMKamp at Yelm Middle School from August 8 - 12, 2022. Space is limited so register online today!

Skyward Family Access Changes

We are upgrading Family Access over the summer. This tool will improve our ability to serve families with easy to access information. However, change can be challenging; and we want to keep you informed as we make the transition.

How does this currently impact our families?

  1. The current system will be available until June 28 (revised date). You will be able to access grades and report cards.
  2. Your login and passwords will not change. If you do need assistance with access, please contact your school.
  3. If you need to register a new student, please do so before June 17. We hope to re-open online registration in August.

How will families know how the new system works?

  1. We will send more information out to families and have resources and videos available on the district website in August.
  2. Watch this introductory video to get a glimpse at the new system.
  3. Your schools will continue to support you when you need assistance.

Free Discover Pass to Check out Washington

The Check Out Washington program now serves all public library systems in Washington and this year, 10 library systems will offer new adventure packs that triple the number of Discover Passes available in their communities. Library cardholders in these 10 library systems can check out an adventure pack that includes a special Discover Pass for a week at a time, free of charge. These passes provide day-use access to state lands managed by Washington State Parks, (WDFW) and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Contact the Yelm Timberland Regional Library for more information at 360.458.3374, emailing yelm@trl.org, chatting online at trl.org, or by logging into your TRL account on the website or mobile app and placing a hold.
