Introducing me!
Miami
I'm from Miami and I've lived there for almost my whole life. The strangest thing about the the area I live in is that no one is ever quite sure what exactly to write for their address: Miami, Miami Lakes, or Hialeah. I live about 20 minutes from Downtown, the area that most people are familiar with. I love it because there's so much diversity back home, all the different cultures and nationalities come together to create a rich cultural atmosphere.
Forensic Science
I'm majoring in Forensic Science, it's something I've always had a passion for. I want to work in a lab, analyzing chemicals and maybe one day have a private lab. At first, around the sixth grade, I knew I wanted to do forensics. The only issue was finding out which area to specialize in, once I took Chemistry, I instantly knew.
EXCEL
I wanted to join EXCEL because of the amazing research opportunities that the program provides. Since I want to work in a lab, I want to get as much hands-on experience as possible so I can do my job correctly, efficiently, and safely. The assistance in math almost made this decision a no-brainer, the easy accessibility to tutoring and the lab center were too incredible to pass up.
First Year of College
As a freshman, I know that it is very easy to become overwhelmed with the sheer amplitude of things to do in this new city. Being in EXCEL helps to highlight the important things from those that are more trivial. Being in the program makes me more accountable for my decisions and choices, there is no excuse to slack when I have all the assistance I could ever possibly need and I fully intend on using these resources.
I love music!
It may not necessarily be unique but it's the most honest thing I could say. Music means so much to me. I love listening to it, playing it, creating it. I play guitar and ukulele, one day I hope to learn how to play drums and bass. Music is one of the most amazing things in the world, I respect musicians so much because they put themselves out there like others never could. The craft itself is so beautiful, slowly composing and building upon each instrument to create a small look into another person's life, be it through lyrics or instrumentals, is wonderful. I love all kinds of music, it doesn't always have to be serious or meaningful. Music should be celebrated and shared all of the time, that's why I LOVE going to concerts. Music is my favorite thing.
