Alabama Leaders in Educational Technology

New Executive Vice President

The results of our runoff election are in. Greg Titshaw, Technology Coordinator for Fort Payne City Schools, will be the new ALET Executive Vice President, The runoff, like the initial election, was extremely close. Congratulations to Greg and our sincere appreciation to April Chamberlain, Emily Elam, and Stephanie Snyder for the dedication to ALET.

ALET Awards

Nomination Deadline: Tuesday, August 1st

ALET award winners are recognized for their leadership and professional generosity. Please take the time to nominate one or more candidates in our three award categories. Winners will be recognized at the Fall Symposium. Winners receive a plaque and have the choice of $1,000 in technology or $2,500 towards travel to a regional or national EdTech conference.


Sally Moore Award - For those who have demonstrated a long-term dedication to promoting technology in K-12 education


Emerging Leader Award - For ‘up and coming’ educational or technical members whose dedication, creativity, and support has resulted in any or all of the following:

  • a significant impact on teaching and learning with technology
  • making technology, accessible, effective, and secure
  • impactful professional development at the system and/or state level.


ISTE Making It Happen - The criteria, set by ISTE, identifies and rewards educational technology leaders around the world for their commitment and innovation.

Fall Symposium - Sept 24-27, Orange Beach, Perdido Beach Resort, followed by E-Rate bootcamp. Room Block and Registration opens in mid-June. Registration will open later in June. Please get your purchase orders ready now if you need one.

  • Registration fee for Basic Members - $200
  • PBR Room Rate - $185 + 16% tax per night.
  • E-Rate Bootcamp - $50

Alabama Cyber School - Strong Finish in National Competition

The ASCTE Scholars’ Bowl team placed second in the open division of the Small Schools National Scholar's Bowl Championship Tournament. The small schools division is open to small high schools with selective enrollment. The competition included 55 schools from 23 states. Well done, ACSTE!

Understanding Premier Memberships and Event Registration

Just a reminder, if you have a Premier Membership this means you are pre-paid, but NOT pre-registered for events. You must register for any event you wish to attend. You will be given first opportunity to register and should do so right away. If you put off registering you could end up on the waiting list despite your premier membership status.
