Walker's Warrior Weekly
7th grade Math
Topics of Study
This week we are studying three dimensional figures such as rectangular prisms, pyramids, and cylinders. We are calculating the volume of these figures to determine the capacity. This skill is important because it is one of the Texas Essential Knowledge skills for 7th grade that will be cover on the upcoming STAAR (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness) test. We brained stormed ideas of how they can use this skill in a real life setting. The students came up with a variety of careers that work with three dimensional objects on a daily basis such at architects, interior designers, construction foreman, and video game designers.
Triangular Prisim
Volume=1/2*length*width*height
Cylinder
Volume=Pi*radius squared *height
