Mrs. Hower

by Faye

Mrs. Hower is a fourth-grade teacher at Elmonica Elementary. She is a wonderful example and is always willing to help. She not only makes mistakes ( like all do ) but also takes responsibility for her mistakes. I personally think she is great at math. Mrs. Hower never bores us. She is very entertaining. She has reasonable Consequences for our bad doings. The crafts we do are very calming and lead us to ZEN. Mrs. Hower is a fourth-grade teacher at Elmonica Elementary and a great role model!

By Amelia & Samanvi

Our class is awesome. We have lots of fun in the mornings we talk and we have lots of fun learning.

About our class.

We do math in the morning and we do reading in the afternoon as well as writing. At the end of the day, we clean our desks. All of us are very kind and smart. And so is our teacher. We are very observant and very good listeners. We pay attention and are very energetic.

That is Mrs. Hower's class!

For math in Mrs. Hower's class we are in a unit about an amusement park and we are learning about how to do multiplication and division and how to divide. In this unit teachers in the story are planning a field trip to an amusement park. We have to figure out how to multiply and divide numbers to find out how many tickets the teachers in the story need to buy for the students in the story.Every day after we get to school we have warm ups on our desks that have math problems on the paper to warm us up for the day.

In writing, we are going to be writing about our book club book and making a thesis, but we are also free writing, and every Friday, we read our stories to the class. It's very fun because we get to learn about our classmates and what they think about and what they like. Our thesis are about books we were reading like holes, lemonade wars, and lost, and many more.

In reading, we are doing book clubs. One group gets assigned a book, and another group gets assigned another book. We are going to write a thesis for a theme/topic of the book. My group is reading a book called “Holes.” Currently, we have a read-aloud of a book called “Pay it Forward.” Before the book clubs, we did a unit of reading a short picture book and writing down the main idea/moral of the story, and writing a thesis about it. Then, we did a unit on black history. I chose Martin Luther King Jr. and wrote a thesis statement on how he played a huge part in ending segregation.

Mrs. Hower taught us more about health and hygiene. I'm just going to tell you that I understand healthy and hygiene.

What's healthy & hygiene? To have good health & hygiene, you must eat healthy food, do exercise, and have a good sleep.

Must avoid eating junk foods like chips, pizza, and animal products.

It doesn't mean you should not eat these things, and you can eat but not a lot. Chips, pizza, and animal products -- These things have a lot of fat on them. It's exciting when we learn about these facts.

She also makes us feel comfortable. Example: You have two things in your hands. You saw the ingredient, and those two things have a lot of fat. You don't know what to pick? But you can pick anything because the two have the same fat.

We will study healthy and hygiene after the movement break. At the end of the day, we will clean our desks.
