Stranger Danger Alert
This letter is to inform you about a police report we were just made aware of today from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The reported incident happened on Tuesday, Sept. 3 on Brook Forest Lane in North Barrington.
A child stated that a male (possibly in his 50’s, with a darker complexion and brown hair), stopped his vehicle (possibly an older model sedan with rust spots) and began talking to the child.
There have been no other reported incidents in the area. Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating and attempting to retrieve video surveillance from area homes. Extra patrols are being conducted, out of an abundance of caution. However, law enforcement has indicated that there is no major cause for alarm. If you have any information, please contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at (847) 377-4000.
We want to take this opportunity to remind all parents to discuss stranger danger with your children, no matter how old they may be. Children should always be aware of their surroundings and walk in groups as much as possible. If a child is approached by a stranger, he/she should seek help immediately. Remember to report any suspicious activity to your school and police department.
Thank you for your support, as we work to maintain a safe environment for all Barrington 220 students.
