Central School's Art Room
Upper School: Grades 3-5
See what Ms. Talian and all of the Central School Artists have been up to in the 2014-2015 school year!
A lot of wonderful things have been happening in the Central Art room! Students have been working hard to create beautiful works of Art. Check out what we've been up to!
Third Grade Surrealist Landscapes
Third graders studied Surrealism. They connected their knowledge of the Art movement to the book "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" by Judi and Ron Barrett and created their own Surrealist landscape collages.
Third Grade Chinese Dragons
Third grade students learned about the Chinese New Year in the Art Room. Students worked to develop their own Chinese dragons and turned them into puppets.
Fourth Grade Medieval Self-Portraits
Fourth grade students worked hard to create their own self-portraits in the style of the Renaissance. Students tested their skills at creating a "facial map" to correctly draw their facial features.
Fourth Grade Toy Prototypes
Fourth Grades students learned about toy design in the Art room! We took a look at toys made in the Ancient world and discussed how toy designers have worked to develop new techniques to create their products. Students worked in groups to create a theme for their toys and then worked to develop their very own toy prototypes.
Fifth Grade Cubism Self-Portraits
Fifth grade Students learned about the Cubism Art Movement and Pablo Picasso. They used different drawing techniques to create their own self-portrait in a Cubist style.
