PPEA Press

March 2015

Hello, Winter!

What a nice way to start March...8 inches of snow! With that said, spring break is just around the corner, but who is counting? It is the time of year where evaluations are wrapping up, ISTEP+ and ECA's are in full swing, and curriculum is being written for next year. Educators are not the only people busy. Our representatives and ISTA lobbyists are busy downtown with education bills like we have never seen. This issue of PPEA Press will provide you with a link to stay connected to the bills that have a direct impact on public education.

As we wrap-up the 2014-2015 school year, it is necessary to hold elections for PPEA President and Vice-President. Since I will be transitioning to Little Quakers Academy in the fall, I am unable to continue as president. Wes Woodson has decided to step down as well. I think it would be a wonderful idea to have co-presidents who would share the responsibilities. I will continue to consult with officers for one year as you transition into your new roles. It is important that members step up to fill the vacant positions. You can volunteer or nominate someone. If you nominate someone, please talk to the member first to make sure he/she agrees. I am more than happy to talk to anyone interested.

Stay warm and safe!

ISTA Attorney Referral Program

Indiana State Teachers Association

150 West Market Street, Suite 900

Indianapolis, Indiana 46204

For over 150 years, NEA members have come to rely on their Association for support and service in a wide variety of areas. The commitment to service and quality

continues today.

The Attorney Referral Program provides members with legal advice on personal matters. Each eligible member is entitled to two 30 minute consultation sessions free during each membership year. And if you need additional legal help, NEA’s Attorney Referral Program lets you get that help at rates below participating attorneys’ usual fees.

Clear Evidence — ISTA/NEA Delivers for Members

ISTA/NEA has for many years provided members full legal protection in employment-related matters. But in today’s complex world, simply having legal help for employment-related matters isn’t enough. At one time or another, each of us needs legal counsel on personal matters that are important to us and our families.

That’s why NEA created the NEA Attorney Referral Program. This unique program is designed to make sure that every NEA member in participating states has access to affordable legal advice.

Who Can Participate

The Attorney Referral Program is open to any active, life, support or retired members and the member’s spouse and dependent children.
