Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update

September 25, 2023

Dear Eagle Canyon Families,

What a fantastic week we had last week! Thank you to all the parents and guardians who took the time to meet with your child's teacher to support your child's success. We are very lucky to have a supportive community to help our students work towards their potential.

The highlight of last week was spending time with the students and families at the PTA-sponsored Get Air event. Our students had so much fun! I was one proud principal watching them play and spend time together. Thank you to the PTA for sponsoring the students so the families could afford a night out with their children.

Friday is Fall Picture Day! Be sure your Golden Eagle is dressed in their best.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs. Bearden

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow

Attendance in school leads to better performance for children when they are adults. As such, CVUSD has a new attendance challenge for the 2023-24 school year. They are challenging schools to attain a 96.5% attendance rate.

School starts every day at 7:50 a.m. To ensure our students make it to class on time, we offer breakfast and supervision beginning at 7:20 a.m. Between 7:15 and 7:35, traffic is very light.

We met the 96.5% attendance rate six times in the last nine days. Please make illness the only reason for an absence.

Student Smart Devices

As a reminder, the student's smart devices must be off while the students are on campus. Smart devices include smartwatches. Please remind your children if they have a phone or smartwatch to turn it off to avoid smart devices from being confiscated. I appreciate your help!

First, I would like to thank the families who work with our staff members to keep traffic moving in our parking lot. We are all trying to get cars in and out of the parking lot as quickly as we can.

On any given day, over 700 people (students and employees) are arriving and leaving Eagle Canyon Elementary. It takes everyone working together to ensure we maintain a safe environment in our parking lot and front of our school. Please pay close attention to the following reminders:

  1. We have two loading zones, one in front of the cabanas and the other on Eagle Canyon Drive directly in front of the school. Please avoid parking in these two areas as one car can affect traffic for everyone.
  2. Please stay in your car when dropping off or picking your child up from the loading zones. We must keep traffic moving so everyone can get to school on time and finish before the teachers on duty leave at 2:40 p.m.
  3. Refrain from blocking cars that need to back out of their parking spaces. Several staff members leave our school to go to other school sites, district meetings, or other jobs. Please work with them so they can safely get to their next destination.
  4. Please do not park in Staff Parking or the two Reserved spots. Our teachers and support staff must be in classrooms ready to welcome students at the beginning of the school day.
  5. U-turns are not allowed in front of the school on Eagle Canyon Drive. It creates an unsafe situation and many times creates more traffic.
  6. Finally, cars cannot enter a crosswalk when the crossing guard is crossing pedestrians.

Thank you for working with us to ensure everyone gets to school and returns home safely!

Join the Eagle Canyon PTA

Consider joining the PTA today! Your $10 PTA membership fee is an easy way for families to support the field trips and programs supported by the PTA. You can ask family and community members to join too.

Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If you are interested, please stop by the office and fill out the request and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan in advance. We need to have two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

You can request support if you have concerns regarding your child's social-emotional health. Click on the picture to access the online Parent Request for Assistance form.
