MountainView Elementary
October 2020
Message from the Principal, Chris Woodward
Hello everyone. As we near the end of the first quarter of school this year, I want to take another opportunity to thank all of our students, parents, and teachers for all of their hard work in adapting to, and thriving in, our current virtual learning environment. I have seen some great lessons and some great participation in our virtual classrooms.
My virtual office is nearly always open and I am happy to speak to any of you via phone, Zoom, or email if you have any questions. Please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Christopher Woodward, Principal
Title 1 Meeting: Thursday, October 8th @ 12-12:30 & 5-5:30
This coming Thursday, October 8, at both 12:00 and 5:00, we will hold our first ever Virtual Title 1 Annual Meetings. We will take a look at our Title 1 School-Wide Plan and will have a presentation from Nurse Tammi about health and safety items. Those who attend the meeting will become a part of our Parent Leadership Team. We look forward to having a lot of people attend this meeting and we will be sending out a few more reminders that will include links to the Zoom meeting. We will also be posting a recorded version of this meeting on our website for anyone who may have missed it. It is very important that we share this information and get parent and community feedback, so I hope to see many of you there.

Children's Lunchbox
A big thank you to our fabulous and very generous school business partner, The Children's Lunchbox! They are providing meals for families, both breakfast and lunch. These are available on book/materials distribution days (Wed, Thurs).
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent/teacher conferences will be held virtually (phone or Zoom) this quarter. Teachers will contact parents in order to schedule a conference between October 7 and October 16. Our goal is 100% participation so that we can discuss the progress of all of our students.
Message from Nurse Tammi
Hello Mountain View Families!
I hope this finds you all well and enjoying our beautiful fall weather. As we continue our new “school routine” please remember that we are all doing our best to cope with this weird, new normal. Please take time to do something fun every day!
We all want to be as healthy as possible for this year’s flu season. Remember to use hand washing, masks, and social distancing to maintain good health. Other important health habits include fresh air, exercise, drinking 8 glasses of water (not soda or juice), and getting a good night’s sleep every night.
Get your flu shot as soon as you can! We are seeing sporadic shortages of flu vaccine. Our flu shot clinic was cancelled this week, but has been rescheduled for Monday, Oct 5 from 9am-6pm. Flu shots are by appointment only. Call me if you want an appointment- 742-3901.
The municipality has given over 5,000 flu shots this month! Let’s hope for a safe flu season this year and the ability to get back to our more normal routines.
Stay safe and healthy!
