Saint Patrick's Day Video

The videos from St. Patrick's Day are here! Here is the mashup that the school put together and produced. It's a great memory of the day, and includes a number of super positive items musically and visually! Still, it also gives us plenty of reminders about the improvement we are capable of --- let's be better next year!

Class of 2020

We're slowly starting to get a feel for what to expect in terms of numbers for next year, as the Fine Arts preferences have been returned to the department. A LOT is still up in the air as these numbers constantly change, but I'm hopeful to see in the vicinity of 25 new members of the Band next year. With 18 graduating, we should see another increase in membership.

As more members commit to joining us, I'll create an updated member list to share with everyone in the early Summer. In the meantime, please keep praying we have more involvement!

Congratulations to Sophomore Brian Karim for being named our Junior Drum Major for next year! The five students that applied, interviewed and auditioned for the spot all did a remarkable job, making this decision incredibly difficult. Thank you ALL for being well prepared throughout this process!

Marching Band Show #2

After meeting with our Drum Majors for next year and discussing options with Ms. Seryak, we've come to a decision on our second show for next year. Similar to last year, it's a challenging set that will require some individual work to learn the music. I plan to have it posted by the end of the year in the hopes everyone will take a small amount of time to begin learning it on their own to speed up the process come September. The music is as follows:

"Jump" by Van Halen

"Jump in the Line" by Harry Belafonte

"Geronimo" by Sheppard

Percussion Equipment

As part of our future plan, I've discussed in Booster Meetings the hope and ability to field a percussion ensemble next year during the Symphonic Band season to get all of our percussionists actively participating during the 9th period block. As part of this plan, one of the difficulties was acquiring the necessary additional instruments. I'm happy to relay that we have received the following instruments that will remain in storage until next Symphonic Season.

A set of 5 Timpani, Marimba, Vibraphone, Bass Drum, Chimes, Xylophone, Glockenspiel

The cost of these instruments is significant. The Administration of Saint Ignatius is going above and beyond to provide all necessary resources for the continued success and learning opportunities for the boys involved in music!
