Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement
Roosevelt is proud to be part of the MESA program (Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement), which is sponsored by the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology at Cal State Los Angeles. The MESA program will be hosting a Virtual Open House in Partnership with the Boeing Company on October 17, 2020. Students and parents can register to attend just by clicking on this link. Parent Education Opportunity -- Kami App
Marie Casillas, the VILS coach from Wilson Middle School will be offering a great presentation on Wednesday, September 30th from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM via Zoom.
Roosevelt Mindfulness Sessions
Being a middle-schooler can be difficult at times. This, combined with the multiple changes in our world can cause anxiety for our students. We want to help! Roosevelt isnow be offering mindfulness opportunities from 12:30 PM to 12:45 PM every Tuesday through Friday via a Live Stream. These sessions, led by our own Ms. Terman and interns from the Student Wellness Department, will provide an opportunity for students to reset and calm their minds. No sign up is required. Just click on the link at 12:30 PM on the corresponding day.

School Site Council Meeting this week
This Wednesday, September 23rd, we will hold our first School Site Council Meeting of the year from 3:15-4:15 PM via Zoom. School Site Council is a group of school stakeholders (parents, students, administrators, and teachers) who are the chief decision-making body for Roosevelt. We develop a three-part plan for schoolwide student success and monitor how we use our resources to reach our goals.
Parents/Guardians: Please vote for two representatives for the School Site Council using this link. Voting will be open until 12:00 PM on Tuesday, September 22nd.

Native American Day
This Friday, September 25th is Native American Day. Native American Day honors the cultural contributions of Native American communities to the state of California’s history, as well as to the overall country.

This week we continue National Hispanic Heritage Month, where we will be highlighting aspects of Hispanic culture. Our Spanish FLAG students are taking the lead on this effort and we appreciate the work they are doing!
