HOOT NEWS
This is a busy time! TELPAS! GT Testing! Conferences, STAAR, benchmarks, PPfT, and then there's just the good 'ole every day teaching!! Thanks for all that you do! SPRING PHOTOS - MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
Spring photos will be taken on March 6th in the gym. Forms/schedules will be going out next week.
ASSEMBLY REMINDERS:
Teachers, we are having an issue with students going to classrooms instead of to the cafeteria for assembly on Friday mornings. Please be sure to close/lock your pod doors, and place a sign on the door that reminds students to head to the cafeteria. Students should not be in your classroom and unsupervised during the assembly. Thanks for your help with this!
REGISTRATION:
Thank you for turning in your forms and proof of addresses in to Pat and for working with your parents to get registered. If you haven't turned in the envelope, please go ahead and do that.
KIM SUTTON BLOG:
Latrese and I have been talking about how much we love seeing our commitment to Kim Sutton Creative Math in each classroom! Keep up the good work!!Check out her blog for additional ideas on how to implement KS math in your classroom!!

RETENTION:
If you are considering retention or placing a child for next year, please be sure that you have put goals (and progress monitored them) into CST. Also, ask parents to sign the retention forms.
ATTENDANCE:
Thank you to everyone who regularly takes attendance on time!! This makes the office staff so happy when they don't have to call you about attendance. For the rest of us, let's work on it! Attendance is due at 8:00 each day. Please work towards getting attendance done in a timely fashion. Let's help each other remember to take attendance. Set a timer to remind you. Ask a student to be in charge of attendance. Set up a system so that you can regularly get your attendance in on time. Thank you for working on this.
TELL SURVEY:
We are looking for 100% participation in the AISD Research and Evaluation Survey (also called the TELL survey). We currently have 60% participation. Please look for an email from the AISD Research and Evaluation Department that was sent on February 5th and complete the survey there. Let's get 100% participation!! Your feedback is valued.

TELPAS UPDATES
TELPAS Writing Samples
Teachers, thank you for staying on top of your writing sample deadlines! Need help? Refer to the writing prompts, collection tips, and calendar we provided. Please review your writing samples to determine whether they meet the criteria before you turn them in to the front office. Remember that the writings must be substantial in length, in English, not graded, with only the date and student's first and last name. You should have already turned in your Expository, Procedural, and Basic Descriptive samples.
Upcoming due dates:
3/1 Past Tense
3/8 Any additional genre
TELPAS Rating
Remember that we are required to have a 2nd rater for 10% of each grade level. You may get together as a group to rate if you wish. This would be an easy way to complete the 2nd ratings for that 10%. The samples for a 2nd rating can be chosen at random. The 2nd rater must initial on the GLAD.
Please reach out with questions! We are here to help you!
