Car Rider Parents
- Students should be able to unbuckle and exit the car independently. This includes being able to unbuckle their car seats.
- Students should be prepared to exit the car quickly. Please be sure that backpacks are ready and goodbyes have been said before entering the car rider lane.
- Practice with your child so they can be prepared and ready to unbuckle, open the door and exit the vehicle.
- School begins at 8:45 AM. If you arrive and car rider staff have closed the doors, it is necessary for parents to park and sign their child in at the front office.
Thank you for helping to make our car rider lines safe and efficient.
Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS)
At Hamilton Elementary we utilize a Positive Behavior Intervention System, PBIS. PBIS believes in common languages and expectations in common areas at school. The PAWS Matrix is a shared set of values and behaviors at Hamilton Elementary. PAWS stands for Pride, Attitude, Wise Choices, and Self Control. The PAWS Matrix can be found here. Our school has also adopted the 8 Keys of Excellence to support our school wide PAWS Matrix. The 8 Keys of Excellence are Integrity, Failure Leads to Success, Speak with Good Purpose, This Is It, Commitment, Ownership, Flexibility, and Balance. To reinforce these positive behaviors students will earn PAW Bucks to spend on menu items in their class and Keys to Success letters home.
This year our PBIS team will be implementing some exciting changes in communication regarding behavior. Our district code of conduct outlines behavior expectations for students and corrective actions that may be taken if necessary. Starting this year PAWS notes will no longer be sent home. Instead letters aligned with the Level 1 and Level 2 behaviors as outlined in the code of conduct will be completed by the teacher and sent home with the student. These behaviors may warrant a corrective action. However, these letters are not office referrals. Our hope is that these letters serve as a communication tool between school and home to support students academically, socially, and emotionally. This notification will be signed and sent back to school. A copy of these letters will also be given to the assistant principals. The Code of Conduct levels can be found here.
We look forward to working as a team to support our Hamilton Lions this school year. At Hamilton we really do believe that we are Better Together.
