Mrs. Summers' Newsletter

December 11, 2015

Its Been a Great Week!

This week we finished our chapter book The Music of the Dolphins. We focused on connections, moods, and feelings of the characters. We are working on our social studies unit "Making a Difference." It is very interesting to see the things the kids feel strongly about. In math the second graders continue to work on geometry.

Things to Look Forward to Next Week!

Next week, we will be reading a Junior Great Book. I am switching it up a bit. The girls will read one story and the boys will read another. On Friday, we will have cross-text discussions. In social studies, we will be working on writing about ourselves making a difference. In math for second graders, we will continue to work on geometry.

We started our new discipline this week. Please look for your child's Token Report to come home today. Please sign it and return it in the Rocket Folder on Monday.

Monday, December 14 from 4-9 is Smoky Row Spirit Night at Punch Burger. A portion of the proceeds will go to the SRE PTO.

If your child has any exciting news to share - winner of a competition, getting a certain color belt in Tae-Kwon-Do, etc., please send me a picture. I would love to feature them in my newsletter. :)

I mentioned to the kids about a great Christmas Light display. I showed them some pictures. If you are interested, it is Reynold's John Deere located at 12501 Reynolds Drive in Fishers. It is right off State Road 37.

Our last day before Winter Break is Friday, December 18. We will have a Winter party that afternoon! The students do not return to school until Tuesday, January 5.
