Time for solar power!!!
A new wave of energy revolution. Lets make a 'green' school
Introduction
Solar power, is indeed the conversion of sunlight into electricity. It is a new source of energy that is renewable and environemntal friendly. Due to its sustainability, it raises up an incresingly amount of attention from the public who hopes to find an alternative source of energy to replace the traditional ones(coal, oil, natural gas).

The efficiency of solar power
Bsically, the conversion between solar radiation and the useful electrcity is achieved by the connected assembly of photovoltaic cells as the solar panel to supply and generate electricity. So the efficiency seems to be the key factor that determines whether it should be largely popularized to the general public. The limitation of the efficiency is because the solar panel could only cover the solar range partially, therefore fair amount of incident sunlight energy is wasted due to inefficient technology. Based on the data from the internet, the current best achieved solar conversion rate is around 20.1%. As we can tell, there is still a huge potential development possibility behind this project that is worth some serious efforts and investment.
Lets find out the significance of solar panel efficiency!
The environmental impact of solar power
Solar power is actually a double-edged source of energy which should be discussed from both positive and negative impacts. While comparing to those traditional ways of electricity generation, solar power certainly is much more envirenmental friendly since it does have a free greenhouse gas emission and no other air pollution problems. It would essentially help to slow the global warming effect and create a much cleaner atmosphere. By only looking at the benefits of solar energy is simply not enough. Because the whole set of facilities does require a large area of land to collect solar radiation at utility scale. More importantly, it may also interfere the surrounding environment including the habitat for wildlife. Through the consideration of the pros and cons of solar power, generally speaking, it is still one of the best ways to not only protect our planet by reducing the gas emission but also provide us with sufficient electricity to meet our demand.

How to make a 'green' school at Glenforest?
Here it comes to the real life application of solar power. In oder to improve the sustainability of electrical energy production at our school, solar power would certainly be my prior choice. First of all, the time period that the school is exposed to the sun is indeed the peak hours of electricity consumption. All the electrical energy that comes from the solar panel could directly support the need of electricity. Besides this, our location in the city Missisauga is also considered to be southern part of Canada which makes us have a greater advantage since we could receive the stronger sunlight. Secondly, our school is not surrounded by any tall buildings which makes it a perfect spot for collection of solar radiation. Based on that, we could set up the solar panel on the roof of our school since we have a fairly large school building including those portables. The solar panel would then absorb the sunlight and the atoms will also get activated with their electron moving freely to generate the current. As for the supplier of solar panel, the ecoSolargy as one of the top companies in the market that produces the high efficient solar panel could be a potential collaborator for this huge project. Thus, solar power does sound like a right chioce for a new enviremental school with its tremendous improvement on sustainability.
In conclusion, solar power indeed could not only help to save our financial budget but also make a reaaaaaally 'green' Glenforest at the same time!!!
