Oak Farm Connects Event
Warm-a-Heart Community Food Pantry
Come join other Oak Farm friends as you serve a meal and pack some groceries for those in need at Warm-a-Heart food pantry in Waterloo, Indiana. We will meet Thursday, September 22nd from 5:00-7:30pm. Those who helped last time had a wonderful time and walked away knowing they made a real difference in the community! We need between 6-9 people to make this a successful experience. Please RSVP to Janet Canino at jcanino@oakfarmschool.com by Tuesday, September 20th. Learn more about this amazing non-profit at: https://www.facebook.com/WarmAHeartCommunityOutreach/
Vision Screening
On Tuesday, September 20th the Noble County Parkview Nurse will be on campus conducting the annual vision screening for our students. Not all of the students will be screened. This is a very quick & easy process. If needed, the nurse will provide the child with a referral that can then be taken to your family doctor, pediatrician or eye doctor. Only Kindergarten, First, Third, Fifth and Eighth graders are screened. Any child who is already wearing glasses or contacts does not need to be screened.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact Nan at nmeyer@oakfarmschool.com
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Are you interested in helping walk students to/from the screening room? Please contact Nan ASAP if you would like to help Tuesday from 11am - 1pm.
Sing PEACE Around the World
"Come and sing the song that will go all the way around the world!"
On Wednesday, September 21st, children from all around the world will join their voices together in a continuous melody. To celebrate the United Nations Day of Peace, the organization hopes to have the participation of 100,000 students world wide to surpass the 2009 event. Oak Farm is one of the hundreds of schools already registered and will be singing at 10:30am; with all grade levels represented. Tricia Weiss, our Music teacher, has been working with the students to learn the song and will be providing CD's to the classrooms to encourage practice. Please visit the website: http://singpeacearoundtheworld.com/ to learn more about this event and to listen to the song, "Light a Candle for Peace."

Emma shares importance of walk...
Oak Farm Middle School 8th grader, Emma, has been making her rounds to the elementary & middle school classes sharing information about Light the Night, how our Oak Farm community has been affected by this disease and dropping off collection jars to raise money and awareness. Students should have brought home a flyer with details about this event. Please know this event is open to all ages, however we have only done classroom visits with the older students as this aligns with their classroom service lessons.
Below is a copy of the flyer - just in case it is crumpled in a ball at the bottom of a bag! ;)
