Celebration Evening... this Friday!
This Friday is our school Celebration Night where all our students, staff, whanau, friends and community come together to celebrate the end of our school year.
Held on our quad, there will be food from 5pm until 6pm - don't be late since as soon as the show starts the food stops.
There will also be raffles –$2 per ticket. Prizes include grocery raffles, gift baskets, vouchers... and one huge Christmas Hamper which is starting to look amazing! Tickets will be on sale on the night so don't forget to bring heaps of change on the night. We are still accepting items to go into the Christmas Hamper, so if you would like to add your contribution, bring it in to the office before Friday morning.
If the weather is not ok, the Celebration Evening will be at Northpoint Church, but at this stage the weather forecast is good, so bring your sunnies!
Graduation Celebrations... Next Thursday
At 11am we will have our End of Year School Assembly at Northpoint Church. This is a special gathering of our entire school and all whanau is most welcome.
Our Year 8 graduation dinner is at Northpoint Church on Thursday evening. Please remember that entry is by ticket only this year - so if you have a Year 8 and haven't booked your tickets yet, tomorrow is the last day to book your tickets. ($10 per adult, $5 per child - the Year 8 is free.) Year 8s will also receive their graduation hoodie on the night, so these need to be paid for before then.
Graduation Hoodies
We would all like to say a huge thanks to our Home and School and especially to Sammy-Jo Wenmouth and ICL for their very generous sponsorship which has made these unique hoodies a very affordable price. Our graduates will be very proud and happy to wear these.
(Thanks also to Tyler and Corban for modelling.)

TAG Oil Tough Kids
Last Friday we had 64 Puketapu students take part in the Tag Oil Tough Kids challenge. They competed against other Taranaki Schools with a record 1800 students taking part this year.
The physical challenge is that of conquering a giant obstacle course - in teams and individually.
Well done to all those who took part.
Touch News
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has made this season such a success: Coaches, subbers, parents, supporters, players... and a big shout out to Kim Sowman for all the organising of teams, uniforms, coaches, gear... Thank you!
So, after the games today, everything needs to come back: gear bags, uniforms, equipment... before Friday please as the PE shed and uniform cupboard are both having a stock take!
Kaitiake & Impact
This morning the Kaitiaki group headed out to find how the seasons have impacted on the wetlands.
There were many bird species present including paradise ducks, pied stilts, spoonbills and Canadian geese as well as lots of mallard ducks. This wetland provides a sheltered space near the ocean to nest and raise young. There were also a few tadpoles about which there were none in February on their first visit.
Phrase of the Week
Manaakitia te Tangata - Be Kind to Each Other, something even more important at this time of year.

It is time to bring your sports uniform back to school. Please make sure they are washed and ready for the next person.
Touch, Netball and Basketball uniforms (including shorts) are all required back now please as well as all tops borrowed for Choir, Rippa and everything else. Any top not back in by this Friday will be charged for.

Getting the New Year of to a Great Start
Term 1 2019 starts on Wednesday 30 January.
Our first day is Head Start Hui which are short meetings for every student with their teacher and parent/caregiver.
The purpose of these hui are:
- To build a partnership of learning between whanau and school (whanaungatanga)
- For our families to share the strengths and dreams for their tamariki
- For our teachers to listen to and get to know their akonga
Each interview/hui will last about 15 minutes and there are times from 8am through until 4.30pm so you can choose a time to suit you.
Sessions are to get to know whanau and students. It is not about school rules/expectations. It’s about relationships and getting to know each other. Information like swimming timetable and other logistics will be written in team letters.
Book online at www.schoolinterviews.co.nz
