Mrs. Hepburn's Class Newsletter
January 27th-31st, 2014
Events
WOW! The month of January certainly has been challenging to say the least. We have struggled getting our routines and schedule down due to the massive amount of snow/cold days we have endured. I have high hopes that it's about to change very soon, despite the predictions from the Farmer's Almanac and weathermen discussing upcoming snow and bitter cold temperatures. I encourage everyone to cross their fingers that we attend school for 5 straight days this week to help us get back into our routines.
Also, if you would like to see a daily breakdown of what the students are working on daily visit my website, it gives a brief description of our plans for the day, along with websites we will use.
This week we should have a schedule that is typical, there aren't any extra additions or events that are necessary to report.
Tuesday-3rd Grade Spectra
Wednesday-keyboarding & library for all
Thursday-2nd Grade Spectra
Third Grade English Language Arts
This week the students will begin the research on the famous American they plan on depicting in our class wax museum. They will spend 3 days researching the person using resources such as the internet and books from the library. Then they will begin writing a persuasive letter to the Missouri Show Me Commissions asking for their famous person have have a monument created in their honor.
Currently, the goal is to have the wax museum on Friday, February 7th at 3:15-parents are invited, but I hate to write this date down in stone as we do not know what the weather is going to bring in the next two weeks. The third grade students will have the opportunity to dress in character and have a speech created and memorized to recite to our visitors.
