2014 Women in Leadership Recognition Reception

We invite you to join in the celebration and honoring of all women who empower others and drive to make change happen. We will be celebrating women with characteristics such as dedication to careers, family, and devotion to pursue equality in the 2014 Women in Leadership Recognition Reception. We welcome you to join this celebration by sending an RSVP email to CJolicoeur@uwb.edu.

The reception will include and chance to hear from a great exemplary woman in leadership, UW Board of Regents Member Joanne R. Harrell.

Joanne Harrell is the Senior Director for U.S. Citizenship and Public Affairs, at Microsoft, where she has worked since 2001. While at Microsoft she has worked in customer-centric General Manager roles in the Global Sales, Marketing and Services disciplines with Enterprise, Public and OEM customers.


Ms. Harrell’s pre-Microsoft work history is extensive and encompasses executive-level operational and strategy roles within the high-tech, telecommunications and non-profit sectors. Past positions include Senior Vice President, InfoSpace; President and CEO, United Way of King County; and Vice President and CEO, US WEST Inc., (now CenturyLink), Nebraska.


Joanne has received awards for excellence in Marketing and Brand Management programs. She is a Conference Board/Brookings Institution Congressional Fellow and has attended marketing management programs at Columbia University and Stanford University. Joanne has also completed Stanford’s Advanced Management College and a non-profit management program at Harvard Business School. Joanne’s BA and MBA are from the University of Washington.

The 2014 Women in Leadership Recognition Reception is a chance to connect with other women leaders on campus. Be enlightened by a guest speaker and UW Board of Regents Member, Joanna R. Harrell. As well as enjoy light refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. After our guest speaker, Joanna R. Harrell, the Women in Leadership Awards will be given out to Women Leaders on campus.
