PHS Update

September 19th, 2016

Wow, the end of the grading period? Really?

Good evening (or good morning),

This Thursday, September 22nd is the end of the first grading period. Time is apparently Usain Bolt.

A few notes:

  • K12 Curriculum committee will have its first meeting this Thursday, Sept 22nd. The subsequent dates are 11/3, 1/19, 4/6. If you are interested in being on this committee, please email or come and see David.

  • PLC Meetings this Wednesday and next Wednesday...

  • Please join me in welcoming Lance Kuehne to the art department. He is our new photography teacher. We will introduce Lance more formally when next we meet, but please drop by the photo classroom on A days to say hello.

  • Please also welcome Richie Lemos who is our newest Special Education teacher. Welcome, Richie!

  • If you can, come on out to support PHS athletics and watch the student athletes in action. They love it when their favorite teacher is there to root them on. See the weekly schedule below.

Have a great week!

David, Debi and Gio

Petaluma River Clean Up!

Saturday's Petaluma River Clean Up! Mr. Tacata reports ..."Wow, what can I say... The kids were FANTASTIC today! We had over 40 volunteers show up and collected -as a group- over 250 pounds of trash throughout the morning (we even had a handful of PHS MarS Alums show up like HOFer Mimi Chavez and Luca Ford!). Our kids were model students, super-courteous, eager, and happy to help clean our community and protect our oceans and coastlines. Our main group stayed around the Steamer Park tidal slough area and picked a ton of cigarette butts and plastic bottles. One group was designated to work Adobe Creek and they had a great time cleaning up drainage basins and making sure that plastic didn't get into the watershed. A few kids were able to actually go out on the river and pick up trash via canoe/kayak (Alex Kingsley's group brought back a muffler and Quinten Acuna's group brought back a stop sign)." Awesome! Way to go kids and Mr Tacata!

Attendance at meetings...

Since all meetings and professional development are now on Wednesdays, please be sure to be in attendance. If there is an emergency, please let us know in advance, not after the meeting. In keeping with the spirit of All In, be sure you are ready by being present and actively working to make the student experience better.

Petaluma the news.
