One Book One School is under Way!
The school-wide celebration is April 1st. We will be spending the entire day talking about the book, as well as doing STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) activities related to the story. We will meet the author via Skype and there will be a huge surprise waiting in the lobby!
We are asking for parents to donate marshmallows for this event. Please send them into school with your child. We need big ones and small ones. We will be using them for an activity as well as maybe even eating a few of them too!
Remember to follow the calendar and read each chapter with your child!
Introducing Shamrock
Shamrock McLaughlin is a one year old Golden Retriever. He has been training to become a therapy dog with the hopes that he will be able to work at Cedar School starting next school year. He has made some Zoom and video appearances already and he visits Cedar on Wednesdays as part of his training. He is ready to begin some school visits and wants to come during the week that he loves the most!
Shamrock will be visiting Cedar on March 16th and 18th! Students will not yet be able to pet him, but he will visit every class to introduce himself. He is so excited to meet our super friends!
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mrs. McLaughlin.
Please visit Shamrock's website with your child to learn more about him (Click on the picture below)!

Book Fair
It is a great time to stock up on some books for April vacation reading! Thank you in advance for continuing to support our school and our love of reading.
A Note from Mrs Dowling
Weather
It is still winter time, even though this week may give us hopes of spring. Please continue to send your children in with pants and coats - we go outside unless the "feels like" temperature is below 20 degrees. On Monday the forecast says we will be right around 20 degrees, and I am already seeing lots of friends in shorts. Keeping a change of clothes in their backpacks is also a good idea as everything melts and the playgrounds get muddy.
Water
Please send your child with a water bottle. They can come for refills (filtered) if they need it, but we are seeing more and more friends without water bottles, and they really need it, especially after PE and recess.
Pooled Testing
Pooled testing is going swimmingly at Cedar school!
We have tested over 100 groups in the last month and have found 2 positives before they exhibited symptoms and were able to keep the number of people quarantined down to 3. Nobody missed any school except the 5 people directly affected.
If you have not already done so, please find the consent form on Aspen (or find the reminder email from Mr. Plummer) and check either "Yes" or "No". Here is a how to Video with instructions on how to do it on Aspen. We would love to have as many people as possible in our testing to make it even more effective. If you have any questions or would like to change your mind, please contact Mrs. Dowling directly.
If your child has tested positive in the last 90 days, we will not include them till their 90 days is up, but you can still consent yes, as I am keeping track of the dates.
