Springs Studio Scoop

Springs Studio for Academic Excellence, February Edition

A note from Executive Principal, Mr. Knoche

SSAE Families,

We are approaching the halfway point to spring break, and we are in the heavy work phase of learning from the first part of the year and beginning to seek input from families and students to improve the way we operate and serve families. One of the immediate changes we are making is to separate this newsletter into several parts. Feedback from families has revealed a need to deliver a specific newsletter to high school families and middle school families separately with grade level content. An all-encompassing newsletter for the school is overwhelming and less personalized to what matters most, your students. We will have some hiccups as we change the way we provide information but with some input as we progress we will do a better job of celebrating our students, programs, and events. This specific newsletter will include information that will have an impact on at least 80% of the school or we will not include it. Improvements to our communications will also be complemented by the D49 App. If you have not downloaded it, please do so as push notifications will keep you up to date on all of the things happening at SSAE. As we attempt to continuously improve at SSAE, I will be reaching out to families and students to participate in focus groups to help us ensure we meet the needs of our stakeholders and allow all students to meet their potential and find their passion. We are excited to deepen our partnership with our families and dig deeper into how we can improve our product. Finally, as we move toward the 19-20 school year, we need everyone to complete the intent to enroll form so that we can manage enrollments for next year. We have a tremendous waiting list of students wanting to enroll, and we have a finite number of spots so please let us know that you are returning so that your enrollment is counted. Here is the link if you have not completed it:

State testing is coming quickly, and we want to give you the dates for these important tests that will give us quality data for our school. Classlink - Single Sign-On

We have heard the concerns with having so many different websites to sign into, and we have found a solution. Classlink is a single sign-on system; this means you only have to go to one place and all of your class resources are there. This will cut down on having to constantly type in different websites and multiple usernames and passwords. Once you sign into all of your class apps on Classlink the first time, you will not need to sign in again. Elementary has the app on their ipads, and the Student Success Coaches went step by step with the Middle and High School students on how to log into chrome and save it as a bookmark.
Big picture

"Pull for the House"

Middle School Student Council will be collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado annual fundraising campaign, Mountain of Love. This will run

from now until April 15th.

Why pop tabs? The tab is made of pure, high-grade aluminum. Don't forget about the tabs from soup cans, broth cans, pet food cans, and even tennis/racquetball balls!

Recycling these pop tabs helps families of critically ill children. Proceeds raised will support programs that last year served over 3,000 area children and their families.

Box Tops

As you are shopping/cooking/eating, be sure to look for Box Tops! Each box top equals 10 cents for our school - collect as many as you can. Recruit friends and family to collect for you as well! Keep clipping and sending in your Box Tops. We did a great job; Springs Studio will be receiving a check for $67.20 in December from the first submission! The next deadline is March 1st.

National Honor Society

NHS had their annual clothing drive on January 12. It was awesome to see the amount of support the staff and families gave through donations and even more so to see the hard work from the students in setting up the event. We had an amazing turnout and gave away mounds of clothes to the community. Around 80 people braved the snow and came by to collect the clothes that were donated by staff and families.

Family Engagement Council

Our Family Engagement Council is responsible for making recommendations to their principal concerning priorities for; spending school funds, making recommendations concerning the preparation of the school’s performance, improvement, priority improvement or turnaround plan (whichever is applicable), and meeting at least quarterly to discuss implementation of the school’s plan and other progress pertinent to the school’s accreditation contract with the local school board. The Educator Evaluation and Support Bill of 2010 (S.B. 10-191) also authorized School Accountability Committees to provide input and recommendations to District Accountability Committees and district administration concerning principal development plans and principal evaluations.
