A Message from Dr. Ryan Glaze, Superintendent, Tipton Community School Corporation
With the Thanksgiving Holiday break upon us, I want to let you know how incredibly thankful I am for your support and cooperation as we continue to navigate the uncharted waters of a global pandemic. I think it is safe to say that this has been one of the most challenging school years the Tipton Community School Corporation has ever faced.
While we have school protocols in place to limit the spread of contagious viruses like COVID-19 and the flu, our entire district has a responsibility to observe and find ways to limit the spread from a global lens. It is my hope that this recent period of virtual learning at TCSC provided the needed time and space to allow us to return to in-person learning on Monday, November 30 and the opportunity to finish out this half of the school year strong.
We believe that in-school instruction is the best way for our students to learn and our goal is to continue in-person learning as long as possible. As a reminder, temptation and COVID-fatigue can lead to decisions outside of school that can ultimately impact our ability to hold in-person instruction. At present, there are three factors that could impact that goal. First, an order by the Tipton County Health Department that we go to virtual learning K-12. Second, if the absence rate at any of our buildings exceeds 20% and/or impacts our teaching staff via illness or quarantine, then the school will go virtual for two weeks. As of this writing, Tipton is holding steady at orange (community spread is reaching high levels) on the state’s COVID-19 color dial.
It has been the perseverance and dedication of our families, students and staff that has made me even more grateful to serve as your Superintendent. Thank you for your continued resolve and commitment to working together to get to the other side of these challenging times. I hope you can enjoy the remainder of this holiday by taking some time to unplug and care for yourself and your family. We look forward to seeing our students and staff back on campus bright and early on Monday. #TiptonPride
