PSAT 8/9 Reminder to 8th Grade Parents
Students at Stoller will be taking the PSAT 8/9 on November 15th. The PSAT provides:
- Baseline information about your child's college and career readiness
- Feedback on specific academic skills they can work on in order to improve
- Access to personalized practice via Khan Academy
Please take a moment to review the documents below with your child to help them prepare. There will be no make up date, so please ensure that your child has a good night's rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and comes to school on time.

Parent-Teacher Conferences - Feedback
Last Reminder...
We would like to get your feedback around Parent-Teacher Conferences. Please follow this link to give us your input on how to better serve our families.
American Math Contest (AMC) 8
The American Math Contest (AMC 8) will be held from 9:15-10:15am on Tuesday, November 13th. The AMC 8 is a nationally recognized mathematics contest for those students who are interested in mathematics. It covers all content through Geometry. If any student is interested please talk to your current Math teacher about taking a practice test. Math teachers will make recommendations to Mr. Norse for the final list of students who will take it.
Unfortunately, Stoller has only 200 spots for the entire school which means that everyone can't take it officially. If a student can't take it officially, they can still take it unofficially to see how they do.
If you have any specific questions, please email Mr. Norse directly.

Safe Routes to School Update
On November 4, 2018, we set our clocks back an hour, making it darker earlier in the afternoon. With shorter days this time of year, motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians need to be extra alert to see each other in low light situations.
Improving visibility means improving safety for all road users. Wearing light colors or reflective clothing is one of the simplest things pedestrians and cyclists can to do keep themselves safe.
Here are additional suggestions to help keep you safe while walking and biking:
- Wear bright, reflective clothing and shoes when walking or biking.
- Don’t wear headphones, text or talk on a cell phone while crossing the street.
- Be aware of vehicles around you. Make eye contact before crossing in front of vehicles.
- Don’t assume that cars see you or are going to stop.
- Driving or biking? Expect and slow down for pedestrians in popular walking areas, around schools and parks, and near crosswalks.
When more people walk, bike and take the bus, it makes the route to school safer, less congested and more fun for everyone. Thank you for continuing to walk, bike and use the bus. It’s the way to go!
