If two different lines have the SAME SLOPE, then they are PARALLEL!

In the equation y = mx + b, m is the slope and b is the y-intercept!

The lines above are parallel because the slopes are both 1/2!

Let's look at an example where we have to write an equation of a line that is parallel to another line!

Write the equation of the line that is parallel to y = 2x + 1 and passes through the point (5, 4)
