Dear Boggess Bengals,

We have had a busy week at Boggess! We welcomed McMillen PALs to campus this week to visit with several of our students.

We have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown during our Canned Food Drive. A huge thank you to everyone who participated. Your kindness will make as huge difference in the lives of many families.

Congratulations to 3rd grade, winners of our canned food drive!

Plano is proud to have the district’s first-ever Family Code Night taking place virtually on Wednesday, December 8, from 5:00-6:15 p.m. Registration is required via this form. Families who need Spanish translation should indicate so on the registration form.

Superintendent Sara Bonser will kick off the event, which will be followed by a coding lesson provided by the Family Code Night team. The event will introduce families and their students to coding and computer science using fun puzzles and special tips.

We are looking forward to welcoming parents back on campus during lunch beginning December 1st!

These are the guidelines that must be followed:

• Non-school age siblings are not allowed.
• Parents may only eat with their child. Their child is not allowed to invite a friend. Parents may not sit with their child's class.
• We will notify parents of any adjustments that need to be made to the lunch plan based on campus operations due to Covid.
• No visitors May 10-20th due to campus STAAR Assessments.

The 35th annual MLK Jr. Diversity Art and Writing contests are now open. Students preK-12 may participate in the art contest and students preK-5 may participate in the writing contest. Students PreK-5 are welcome to enter both contests if they choose to do so.

Entries are due by November 30, 2021. Please accompany entries with the signed permission form available here:

Art Guidelines (preK-12)

• Create a work of art inspired by the theme: Together we honor the past, inspire the
• present, and change the future.
• One art entry per student
• Students PreK-12 may participate in the art contest
• All media accepted
• Work may be Two or Three-Dimensional Work
• Maximum 2-D size including mat is 24” x 30”
• Maximum 3-D size is 16”H x 12” D x 16” W

Writing Guidelines (preK-5)

• Create a poem or essay inspired by the theme: Together we honor the past, inspire the present and change the future.
• One writing entry per student
• Students Pre-K-5 may participate in the writing contest
• Writing entries may be handwritten or typed.

Entry Guidelines

• Students do not need to enter in both the art and writing contests to participate.
• All entries must be original. No copy work will be allowed.
• All entries must be created solely by the student.
• Entry must be accompanied by a signed entry form taped to the back.

Parents and/or instructors will deliver art to Laura Grundler, Plano ISD art coordinator, and/or Dr. Rachel Beachy, Plano ISD K-5 literacy coordinator, at the district’s Administration Building, 2700 W. 15th Street, Plano, Texas 75075, by November 30,

Approved volunteers are able to sign up for volunteer opportunities directly through the VOLY platform at plano.voly.org. Volunteers should be sure to select Boggess on their application in order to be eligible for volunteer opportunities. School selections can also be changed by the volunteer by logging into their account at any time.
