Ms. Thistle's Thoughts
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year!
We are so happy to have you as part of the Endeavor Family. We are a dedicated group of teachers/staff that will work with you and your family throughout the year to encourage your child to grow academically and social-emotionally.
In September we start the year off by reviewing school rules, procedures and building a community in our classroom. Through modeling, coaching and positive reinforcement, we are working to help students make good choices at school.
Portage School District Administrator, Mrs. Rudolph’s has shared her message of B.E.S.T. We invite you to participate in the district’s goal for our kids be at their very B.E.S.T.

Lastly, I want to let you know that I care about your child, believe in them and trust them. If there is anything that I can do to make your child’s first years of school even more enjoyable please let me know. You are always free to call or stop in and visit me at any time. Being on time, prepares you to do your BEST!
The external front two doors will be unlocked during the school day. The internal front doors will be locked. Anyone wishing to enter the building will need to ring the internal doorbell located on the wall to the right for entry.
Be prepared to show I.D.
While we welcome guests, we also need to consider
the safety of our students and staff.
Please be sure you have signed in at the office and
are wearing a visitor's pass at all times when in our building.
Thank you for keeping safety a priority!
Late to school (aka Tardy)--
If your child is late to school (after 8 a.m.), please call to let the school know that your child(ren) will be late.
PLEASE DO NOT JUST DROP YOUR CHILD OFF AND DRIVE OFF.
Please walk your child in to school and sign them in at the office.
This is a necessary safety precaution.
Reporting an Absence--
Please contact the office by 8:15 am if your child will be absent from school. If a phone call (608-587-2625), phone message, or email (gohlkek@portage.k12.wi.us), is not received stating that your child is out and the reason for the absence by 8:15 am, safety calls will be made to insure that your child is safe. This is for the safety and well being of all students.
Parking--
Remember to please park in the parking stalls and not in the driveway. You may also park down at the Civic Center for drop off and pick up. The busses and/or any emergency vehicles need to be able to get in and out of the driveway without driving on the curbs and grass. The curb that is yellow is a FIRE LANE.
This is a necessary safety precaution.
Electronics--
Any electronics (cell phones. tablets, ipods) brought to school by students must be turned off and turned into the office upon arrival to school. Students may pick up their electronics before leaving school at the end of the day.
Please review the handbook with your child(ren).
A signature page will be coming home this week.

Music with Ms. Janes
Welcome back everyone!
I'm Miss Janes, and this will be my 4th year teaching music at Endeavor Elementary. A little about me: I grew up in Oregon, Wisconsin and went to UW Stevens-Point for Music Education. I don't have any pets, but I do have a lot of plants! During the summers I spend time with the Girl Scouts, working on staff at their summer resident camp, which is tons of fun.
I am so excited for this new year, I know it's going to be amazing. Right now the most important information from the music room is to save the date for the Holiday Program. It is on Thursday, December 19th at 6pm! It will be here before we know it. Have an excellent start to the new school year, see you in music.

Counselor's Corner with Ms. Brown
Hi my name is Denise Brown, I am the School Counselor for Endeavor Elementary and Woodridge Primary School. I have been a school counselor here in Portage for 29 years. I love watching our students grow both academically, socially and emotionally!
I've been married for 33 years and have two wonderful adult sons and an awesome dog named Coda. I enjoy reading, traveling, camping, and anything together with my family!
This summer my husband and I traveled the coast from Savannah, Georgia to the
Outer Banks, North Carolina. We photograph lighthouses and were able to capture 21 lights on this fabulous trip! We also spent a week with our family and extended family
on our annual camping trip up north. This year marked our 50th year of camping together!
I look forward to connecting with your children and you this year!
