Google Drive Plug-In for Microsoft Office
Go to https://tools.google.com/dlpage/driveforoffice and download the plug in. Once you have installed it you will see a new Google Drive tab at the top of your document when you open Microsoft Word. From this tab you can Save to Drive, Share, Save as... , which will allow you to select the folder in your Google Drive where you would like to save it. You will also see the option to "Save to Drive" when you go to File --> Save in Word as you usually do.
Google Maps Game - Smarty Pins
Smarty Pins is a Google Maps based geography and trivia game. Loads of fun and easy to play, although it is hard to master! You select a category that you would like to play and off you go. You are given a written clue, 1000 miles on your counter and a map "pin" that you can drop where you think the correct location is. Luckily the game starts you in the general area on the planet where you need to be looking but it can be an area as big as an entire country. For some questions the answer might be an entire city or a particular area of a country but for some answers (to collect bonus points) you have to zoom in on the map to find the exact landmark. You lose "miles" off of your total the further you are away from the actual location when you drop your pin. The little Google Maps guy (or girl) cheers you on from the side and the quicker you answer the more points you can get. Try it out or let your students have a go at it.

How to Change the Default Download Folder in Google Chrome
Start by clicking the Menu in the upper right (the three hot dogs) to bring up the dropdown. Click Settings -->Show Advanced Settings then scroll down until you get to the Downloads area.
Here you'll see a field displaying your current download location. Click the Change button to select a new one. If you prefer to have Chrome ask you where to put files you can check the Ask Where to Save Each File Before Downloading. This is my preferred setting because I don't like having to go back into Drive to find the file and file it where I want it to go.
