RMS Wildcat Weekly
December 4th, 2020 Information for our Families
Greetings Wildcat Families!
Happy Friday, and Welcome to December!
Believe it or not, we have only two weeks before our Winter Break. Next week will be busy as we have our fall parent/teacher/student conferences on Tuesday 12/8 and Wednesday 12/9. We have lots of information below about scheduling conferences, selecting your learning model for next semester, tutoring, and more! In these next two weeks, please continue to ensure that your students are ATTENDING THEIR CLASSES (both synchronous and asynchronous) and COMPLETING THEIR WORK. Help them email their teachers and reach out through Canvas for help and clarification.
As we continue to grapple with the unknown throughout this next wave of the pandemic, it can be tough to stay calm and resilient. Here is some great information from the American Academy of Pediatrics on Parenting in a Pandemic: Tips to Keep the Calm at Home It's a wonderful resource with practical and helpful strategies.
Stay safe and healthy, Wildcats!
Sincerely,
Heather Golly
Fall Parent/ Teacher/ Student Conferences
Tuesday, December 8 and Wednesday, December 9 will be minimum days to accommodate the parent teacher conferences. For these minimum days, students will follow our RMS Virtual Bell Schedule on Dec 8 and 9 for their synchronous classes, but they will not be required to attend any of the gray "asynchronous" periods on those two days.
If your student has a grade C or lower, it is recommended you schedule a conference with that subject's teacher. Students must attend the conference with the parents and should be prepared with their Chromebooks. To access the Zoom link for the conference, students will log into their Canvas and find the link. Some teachers may also send a Zoom link to your email for individual conferences. Students and parents will need to enter the Zoom through Canvas using the student's full name. Please remember there will be no recordings of the conferences without permission. Please email your teachers with any questions.
The online registration window to schedule a conference will be open by the end of the day on WEDNESDAY, December 2. There is limited availability for conferences, so don’t wait to schedule. Conferences are available from 1:30 pm-4:40 pm. Step-by-step instructions are provided after you open the following link:

Urgent! ALL STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE THE LEARNING MODEL REGISTRATION
The selection form for Classic or Virtual Learning model for the second semester will be closing soon. Please note that if a parent does not respond to the registration process, their student(s) will remain in the learning model in which they were enrolled in the first semester. Prior to assigning the learning model, we will, however, reach out via email, phone, and other site correspondence to any parent who has not submitted their registration by November 29th. This learning model registration will be in effect for the remainder of the school year. This means that students will be required to stay in the learning model they chose for the entire semester. Some programs and courses may not be available in each model as school schedules and classes are created based on student requests. This could mean that if you request a switch in learning models, your student’s teachers, elective choices, and class periods could change. As a reminder, we will be socially distancing, as practicable, in the Vista Classic learning model, and that the class sizes are similar to a regular school year. Please note that parents have received individual emails for the learning model registration from the sender listed as VistaUSDforms@vistausd.org.
