----------------------------------------
SmartPhone Pet Photo Contest Begins!
If you have been using NF's SmartPhone app. throughout this year, you will notice that there's a feature for sharing photos directly from your phone and adding this information into our photo gallery. As such, we will begin a 'pet photo' contest. Our NF staff did this last year, and it was fun to learn some personal information about our school staff. From now until April 15th, students are encouraged to take a photo with their pet and have an adult upload the photo to NF's gallery. It's really simple to do:
- Take a photo of your child(ren) with their pet using your phone's camera.
- Open your NF Squire phone app.
- Located in the "More" section is a tab entitled, 'share Northfield photos'. Click it.
- Click on the "Send Us a Photo" tab.
- Take a photo or choose from your photo library. Upload.
- When asked, please send the photo in 'small' format.
- Once photo is approved, it will be displayed in the Pet Contest Photo Gallery.
- Check out my selection of Bailey with her two brothers now showing in the gallery.
- Enjoy!
Student prizes will be awarded for a variety of categories such as craziest, cutest, scariest, etc. Our staff will serve as judges. Top prizes will include a pizza lunch with friends, Principal for the Day opportunity, lunch with a teacher, gift cards, and other great awards.
The contest will end on April 15, 2020 at noon.
Mental Health Resources Available
Thanks to Dr. Deb Wallace, school counselors throughout the district, and the Nordoina crisis team, resources are now available to families for mental health concerns. Simply go to the Nordonia City School District's web site. Click on the 'families' tab and access this timely information. There's a specific tab to address Coronavirus questions and concerns.
Sharing Tootles
As part of our PAX program, Tootles are statements that any adult or student can write after observing awesome behavior or to acknowledge a special gesture of kindness. Periodically, NF celebrates individuals by reading the Tootles over the PA. In lieu of this process, I am enclosing some recent Tootles that were shared with me prior to school closure. Enjoy!
- Dear Leo, you are a great friend. You are always nice and funny. You were on task at math and writing. (From Keaton)
- Ruby, I love how you are always smiling and happy. You are always really happy even when you are sad. And you are always talking about food. (From Rylee)
- Dear Abbie: I love how much you care for music and how you are always helping other people. Keep being a PAX leader. (From Brayden)
- Dear Ms. Sansavera: You are an awesome office professional. Thanks for keeping our school together. (Anonymous)
OSOB Suspended Until April
During a Friday staff meeting, the decision was made to postpone the OSOB initiative. Our faculty and staff believe that the 'power' of the program is best when shared together as a school community. As such, please stop reading Nim's Island. Once school resumes, we will publish a new calendar, update trivia, relaunch the program via an assembly, and other exciting opportunities. Please save your packet for reference. Chapter 4, the last officially assigned reading, will be our starting point upon return, and prizes will be awarded accordingly.
School Building Accessibility: Northfield Elementary School is officially closed to families and students until further notice. If there is an emergency need for something in the building, please contact me via email only at Marc.Kaminicki@nordoniaschools.org. Please do not leave any phone messages on the office machine as it will not be regularly checked.
