Granville Academy
June - 2018 Edition #1
June - 2018
Granville Academy is starting the summer of 2018 with a lot of excitement and planning for our inaugural school year beginning in August. The blended and personalized learning environment that Granville Academy has to offer families inside and outside of Granville County Public Schools is continuing to flourish. Growing enrollments, receiving a school number and administrator, conducting teacher interviews, selecting school buildings, and communicating information about Granville Academy are some of the topics included in this monthly flyer.
Granville Academy Principal: Dr. Vanessa Wrenn
We are so excited to announce that on Monday June 11th, 2018, the GCPS Board of Education appointed Dr. Vanessa Wrenn as the Principal of Granville Academy!
Dr. Wrenn has been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty-three years. She has worked with diverse students as a teacher and district administrator. Most importantly as a mother of three children, her lens is always, what is best for children. Dr. Wrenn states, "My goal is to ensure that all children are healthy, happy and safe, so they may be successful learners. This has been my philosophy since I began my career teaching."
Dr. Wrenn is a former Career Technical Education teacher and is the Director of Technology and Online Learning for Granville County Public Schools. She understands that each child needs an advocate. Dr. Wrenn says, "I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to Granville Academy and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success."
We are truly so excited to have Dr. Vanessa Wrenn as our leader!

Granville Academy High School Locations & Schedule
High School students enrolled in Granville Academy will have a lot of flexibility in locations for learning and time management. Grades 9-12 will not be required to attend a physical school building during set times if they are doing well academically. High School students can expect to be invited into a specified location occasionally to meet with their online teachers, the Granville Academy Academic Advisor, or attend a lab if working below a certain standard in their virtual courses. The Granville Academy high school program incorporates a strong focus on the individuality of each student, which drives eagerness to learn and achieve.
Granville Academy Middle School Locations & Schedule
Granville Academy students in grades 6-8 will have the option to attend Granville Academy on either Northern Granville MS or Butner-Stem MS campus for the 2018-2019 school year! Students and families will select the location that is the best fit and this will be the on-site campus where students will come to school two days a week for approximately 5 hours each day.
Please note that this schedule is a draft and allow for some flexibility. These decisions were made based on community input and advisement from district leaders. The selection of two locations for each grade span with a slightly longer day only two days a week will provide more students with the choice to attend Granville Academy.
