Announcements and Events
Thursday, February 7 beginning at 6PM - Junior College Planning Night
Parents/Guardians of grade 11 students who are planning to go on to college after they graduate should attend this event with their student!
- Complete overview of the college exploration and application process
- Representatives from colleges and universities
- Opportunity to have questions answered by School Counselors
- 3 presentations will be running at the same time in English, Portuguese and Spanish
An evite was sent home to families in January and reminders will be coming out. Families can sign up electronically or in the Guidance Office.
Course Selection for the 2019-2020 School Year:
School Counselors will begin meeting with students next week regarding the course selection process for the 2019-2020 school year. Academic instructors have made course level recommendations for students in grades 9, 10 and 11. Course verification will be shared with parents/guardians once this process is complete.
Acceleration Academy - English MCAS - February 19, 20 and 21 from 8AM - 12PM
The Acceleration Academy is a free program developed to optimize student success in the area of English Language Arts in preparation for the March 2019 MCAS and is open to all current grade 10 students. A mailing was sent home to grade 10 families. Application is also below under Academic Updates.

Career and Technical Updates
Culinary students take first place in SkillsUSA "Meals Ready to Eat" (MRE) Challenge!
Congratulations to Josvardo Gomez, Katherine Couto-Nales, and Samantha Colon on their success at the MRE Challenge sponsored by the Framingham National Guard and SkillsUSA Massachusetts. Teams of 3 students used meals ready to eat (MRE) to come up with recipes. Twelve Career and Technical Schools across the commonwealth competed and were judged by chefs and National Guardsmen.
Keefe Tech placed in multiple categories!
- 1st place for the taste test
- 2nd place for creativity
- 1st place best presentation
- Overall first place as Grand Champions

School Counseling

SAT Prep Courses: We are in the process of putting together information on an SAT Prep Verbal Course for grade 11 students that will begin after February vacation. The goal of this class is to help prepare student for the May or June 2019 SAT exam.
A mailing about this opportunity will go home to families next week. Please note that we are no longer able to offer a Math SAT Prep section at this time.
Verbal SAT Prep Course will run on Thursdays from 5:30PM - 8PM beginning February 28, 2019 and ending May 2, 2019.
The class will be $100 and registration will be first come first serve once open. If there is not sufficient registration the course will not run.
Seniors who are planning to apply to 4-year colleges and universities should be working on their college applications, completing necessary essays and making sure they have connected with teachers about recommendations. Students should make an appointment with their School Counselor if they have not done so already. Deadlines come up quick and we want to make sure they everyone is on track.
Student Activities
DRAMA CLUB: All members of the Drama Club who will participate in this year's production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, please attend a mandatory meeting Thursday, February 7th, at 2:10 pm in room 218. See Mrs. Rector with questions.
Valentines "Carnations for Cupid" Homecoming fundraiser begins this week! Check out our posters for more details and ask any Homecoming committee members or Mrs. Cavicchio to order a Red, Pink or White flower for your special person! Help raise enough money and Cupid Westerman will personally deliver the flowers for you! Let’s make this the greatest Homecoming dance, KT has ever hosted!
Project Adventure will be snow tubing at Nashoba Valley Ski Area on Thursday February 7th! See Mr. Paul for more information. Permission slips must be turned in to attend. Get on the snow and enjoy winter!!!
Athletics
Congratulations to our 2018 football team for their commitment to charity! They received this award and letter from the American Cancer Society for their “tackle cancer for a loss” fundraiser.
