Sarah Knox Resigns From School Board Post
District Seeks Applicants for Open Board Position #5
Sarah Knox, a member of the Wenatchee School District No. 246, Board of Directors since 2017, has resigned her position on the Board effective immediately. Knox has accepted a position with Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWA) a Seattle-based non-profit that supports refugee and immigrant women and families and has relocated to the Seattle area.
In a written statement to the Board, Knox stated, ”Amazing things are going to be happening in Wenatchee schools, and while I selfishly wanted to be a part of them, I know that our schools are in incredible hands with our staff. I hope that the board takes this opportunity to build a board that more adequately reflects the diversity in our valley. Thank you for the growth opportunities I have had in the past two years and I look forward to following the achievements and growth of our great schools.”
Knox’s resignation was accepted by the Board at their November 12th meeting. The Board will discuss the timeline for filling the remainder of her unexpired term which ends in 2022 at the board meeting on November 26.
The application for the position will be made available on our website or paper copies can be obtained at the District Office, 235 Sunset Ave.
The process for appointing a new board member consists of the following steps.
Publicly posting the position and application materials
Review of applications by the Board
Interview of applicants during an open meeting
Appointment by the Board
Requirements
Applicants must be United State citizens and registered voters residing within the district boundaries to qualify as valid candidates. Applications will be accepted until filled or otherwise noted and may be turned into the Wenatchee School District central office at 235 Sunset Ave. Applicants will be contacted regarding the interview process timeline.

GA Band Booster Holiday Bazaar - Call for Vendors
The Wenatchee High School Golden Apple Marching Band will host their annual Holiday Craft Bazaar December 7 in the Commons at Wenatchee High School. The Band Boosters are now accepting applications from vendors who sell handmade items such as holiday decor and ornaments, jewelry, soaps and lotions, baked goods, wall art and hand-painted items, glassware, pottery, doll clothes, baby items, yard art, wood crafts, pottery, and much more.

Wenatchee Jazz Workshop
February 3-7
Jazz band students from Wenatchee HS and Orchard, Pioneer and Foothills MS will be participating in the 20th annual Wenatchee Jazz Workshop February 3-7. They’ll spend a week in classes with six world-class jazz musicians who sit right in the sections with them, demonstrating and offering individual guidance.
The workshop ends with Jazznights, two public concerts at the Numerica Performing Arts Center: Thursday, Feb. 6 by the pros, and Friday, Feb. 7 featuring the students. Tickets will be available at 663-ARTS. The Wenatchee Jazz Workshop, thought to be the only one of its kind in the U.S., is an affiliate of the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center.

Job Openings
Substitute Custodians
We currently have 4-5 openings for substitute custodians. Subs cover vacations, absences and long term leave of absences. Most shifts are 8 hours with working hours between 2:30-11:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Basic custodial knowledge is helpful but not necessary. Paid orientations and training. Subs are considered for full-time custodial positions as they become available.
