The Heart of a Lion
Way to go Mrs. Triplett!
Ashley has been serving as assistant principal of Aycock Middle School since 2012. As a PTLA intern, she conducted her internship at Vandalia Elementary School with Principal Keisha Brown. When Ms. Brown became principal of Aycock, she hired Mrs. Triplett to become her assistant principal.
Prior to PTLA, Mrs. Triplett was the AP/IB coordinator and lead Social Studies teacher at Smith High School for six years. Ashley is continuing her education studies at UNC-Greensboro in pursuit of an Ed.D.
We need your help!
We encourage you to assist in recruiting EOG proctors on May 27, May 28 and June 2-4. Please let Mr. Yancey know if you or if you have volunteers that can help us!
Virtual Middle School Courses
Aycock School families,
Starting in June, GCS will offer FREE online math courses to middle school students over the summer. These courses will introduce students to the online learning environment, and teach them the necessary skills to be successful in the online setting (i.e.-time management, communication skills, reading and writing, etc.). The courses will be taught and led by GCS middle-school teachers.
Interested students will take their course outside of school, and may access it anywhere/anytime with internet access. Students work at their own pace with the guidance of an online teacher. They must take responsibility for doing the work and completing the assignments within specific time frames supported by the teacher.
The available courses are:
* Ready for Accelerated Math 7 - For students currently enrolled in Math 6 interested in taking Accelerated Math 7 for the 2015-2016 school year.
* Ready for Accelerated Math 8 - For students currently enrolled in Math 7 interested in taking Accelerated Math 8 for the 2015-2016 school year.
* Ready for Math I- For students currently enrolled in Accelerated Math 7 that may need additional instruction to better prepare them for Math I. This course is pass/fail and does not determine placement for the 2015-2016 school year.
The online courses are pass/fail and do not impact student records or math placement. This is an opportunity for students to experience online learning, with a focus on improving their math skills. Students need a computer and Internet access to participate.
