The mission of Rainier View Elementary school is to empower our diverse community to be life long learners by inspiring growth, discovery and the building of a bright future.
Principal's Message
Hello Rainier View Community,
This was a big week for our 5th graders! The Sequoyah drumline, band and orchestra performed at Rainier View. Our scholars were introduced to the different types of instruments they have the opportunity to play in middle school. On Thursday, the counselors from Sequoyah came to share the exciting opportunities such as sports, electives, clubs and their reward system.
Student-Led Conferences are March 30th and 31st. If you have not yet scheduled your child's conference please reach out to the teacher. Conferences are a time to celebrate growth and set new goals. Be sure to stop by the table at the entrance to enter to win fun prizes!

Health Updates
Hello Parents/Guardians!
The health room would like to send out a few reminders:
· Please check in with your scholar before school and keep them home if they are sick. Have a plan in place to pick up your child as soon as possible if they need to go home. The health room is not able to keep sick children for long periods of time and it unnecessarily exposes other children and staff to sickness as well.
· The health room cannot diagnose the cause of the illness. Sick children, especially those with the following symptoms are treated as POTENTIALLY contagious:
o fever, vomiting, diarrhea, undiagnosed rashes, uncontrollable coughs/runny noses (ones you would not want your well child around), or red, itchy eyes, with or without discharge
o Please refer to the chart below on when a child should return to school if they have any of these symptoms:
Please note the following chart for when to keep scholars’ home and when they may return to school:
Your child needs to stay at home when they have any of the following: Your child may return to school when they are:
A temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher Fever free for 24 hours without the use of any fever reducing medication or Motrin
Vomiting (with or without a fever or diarrhea) Free of vomiting for 24 hours without the use of medication
Diarrhea (with or without fever or vomiting) Free of diarrhea for 24 hours without the use of medication
Rash of unknown origin Free of rash, or release from a physician that rash is not contagious
Red, runny, itchy eyes, or wakes up with eyes “glued” shut Free of redness and drainage or release from physician not contagious
Uncontrollable cough and/or uncontrollable greenish nose discharge When symptoms have significantly improved, and cough does not disrupt class
Any time your child is not feeling well, has ill appearance, and cannot participate in all aspects of school including recess. When they are feeling well enough to participate in all aspects of school, including recess.
If your child has any COVID-19 symptoms, we recommend keeping them home and testing them. The health room has at home rapid COVID tests available if you need some. You can also get free at home tests sent to your home by going to https://doh.wa.gov/emergencies/covid-19/testing-covid-19?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhJeu6JXK_QIVPTutBh0y6wXwEAAYAiAAEgJwlPD_BwE
Attached you will find the updated decision tree from the DOH for COVID-19 symptoms and exposure.
· The health room sees many children during the day and calls to parents/guardians for every single visit is not possible. Any head bumps, significant injuries, or if a child appears too ill to remain at school will get a call. Children who come to the health room often will also get a call home. If you ever have any questions or health concerns about your scholar, please reach out to the school nurse.
