PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Basic Information About Serving on the Community Council

For the 2021-22 school year, we need to elect four new parent members to join Karina Landward who was elected last year. We will meet 4-5 times during the school year, typically on Wednesdays at 5pm via Zoom. Serving on our School Community Council is a wonderful way for parents to contribute and help improve academic performance at our school. The school receives an annual dividend from the school trust lands. Our council helps decide how these funds will be used. Reading Elementary received $55,474 from the School LAND Trust Program this year. The SCC will review data and help craft the Teacher Student Success Plan before it receives final approval by the Davis School Board. The SCC also acts in an advisory capacity to school and school district administrations.
Qualifications
Every public school in Utah has a School Community Council. The SCC is made up of three school employees who are elected by the other employees and five parents who are elected by the guardians of children attending Reading Elementary. Membership terms are for two years, so the four parents elected to the SCC will serve for both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school years. Elections are held at the beginning of the each school year. For more information please visit https://schools.utah.gov/schoollandtrust/parentscouncils
Election
An election will only be held if we receive more than four candidate names. Elections are held in the guardian myDSD system between September 8-18, 2021.
First Meeting
Our first meeting will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, September 29th at 5pm. The remaining meeting dates will be determined at that time.

Specific items are needed to support two local causes.
