Victoria's Classica Margherita Pizza

Recipe Introduction

This was my recipe for the Italian cooking unit during March 2013. I picked this recipe because I like Margherita Pizza but have never made my own before.

Recipe Yield

The yield of this recipe is one pizza serving 4 people.

Ingredients/Equipment

Ingredients for Pizza:

-Homemade/Store-bought Pizza Dough -

-All purpose flour for dusting

-3 cups of tomato sauce

-1/4 cup chopped tomatoes

-1 tsp dried oregano

-fresh basil leaves

-fresh mozzarella cheese

-cornmeal for stone


Ingredients for Tomato Sauce:

-1 tablespoon olive oil

-1/2 red onion, diced

-4 tablespoons garlic, minced

-salt and pepper

-6 fresh basil leaves,chopped

-3 tablespoons of red wine (I substituted with apple juice)

-1 can of whole plum tomatoes

1/2 cup of water


Equipment:

Special equipment for this recipe included a pizza stone, but instead I used a round pizza pan.


Method/Procedure

Baking Comments

I substituted some of the things during this process.

I used a pizza pan instead of a pizza stone, apple juice instead of red wine, and I broke up the tomatoes with a potato masher.


The sauce made the pizza a little watering at the end.
