Kerr Happenings

January 13, 2022

Kerr families,

Happy New Year! We hope your 2023 has gotten off to a successful start. Students and teachers have started their new spring courses and are looking forward to a productive spring. As always, there are a variety of campus events coming up - we hope to see you at one soon!

As always, please reach out if you need any assistance or have any questions.

Mr. Lewis and Ms. Tones

Campus Reminders

The Kerr after school program includes club meetings, rehearsals, and tutorials on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. On these days there is late bus transportation at approximately 4:45.

There is supervision on campus until 5:00pm on all after school program days and 3:00 when the after school program is not in session. Early dismissal Wednesdays students are dismissed from campus at 1:30.

Students are not allowed inside the building without staff supervision. We want to ensure the safety of all students and we appreciate your assistance in picking them up from campus immediately when they are dismissed from their activities.

First Semester credit awarded

All grades from term 2 are now final and credit has been awarded for all courses. GPAs and class ranks have been updated and are viewable in Home Access.

A final grade of 70 or higher is needed to earn credit in a course. If students are successful in all their classes this term they will earn a total of 2 credits toward graduation. If successful in all courses, students should now see 4 total credits earned for this school year.

All students and parents have a Home Access account where all student records can be accessed. The Home Access Center is available online or as an app. If you need assistance with your Home Access account, call the front office at 281-983-8484 and someone will assist you.

2023-24 Course Selection

On February 2nd at 6:30pm Kerr will be hosting course selection night. This will be an opportunity for families to come and learn more about the different course options on campus and ask questions of teachers and other staff. What is the difference between dual credit and AAC and which one is right for my student? Find out the answers to these questions and more by attending our course selection night!

Counselors will be having individual planning meetings with all students during the school day beginning January 17th to discuss their options and make plans for next year.

Junior conferences will include course planning for senior year, a discussion of postsecondary and career goals, as well as information about the college application process. We invite parents to attend with their students. Juniors will receive a link on Schoology to schedule an appointment time with their counselor. If you would like to attend the conference, please speak with your student to select an appointment time that works for you.

2023 Yearbook Sales

The Yearbook Staff would like to announce the 2023 Yearbook will be increasing from $60 to $70 on January 15th. We are urging our Kerr family to consider at least making a down payment of $20 beforehand to secure a yearbook for only $60 in total. You can make small payments throughout the year afterwards! Please have your child come to Room 302 or visit Balfour.com if you are interested!

Senior Information

Senior parents! There is a lot of information to keep up with between senior pictures, yearbooks, caps and gowns, etc. Please see the senior information page of our website to stay informed. As we get information we will be sure to post it here. (yes, we are still waiting on a confirmed graduation date)
