The Warrior Weekly
Week of December 7th
The Warrior Way!!
As many of you know Wally the Warrior Elf has been watching our students each day throughout the building. Having Wally here has been a great opportunity for us to review the Warrior Way with our students. Wally has highlighted all the ways our students are Respectful, Responsible and Safe! We have continued that conversation to how the Warrior Way can help our students when they are outside of the Intermediate School. The ultimate goal of our entire Winfield staff is to help our students become productive members of society who show the Warrior Way in everything they do.
Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do to support the Winfield School District, Winterfield Intermediate and The Warrior Way!
As always please call, email or stop by the office if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.
Proud to be a Warrior,
Jeff Schultz

The Counselor's Corner
Hello Warriors!
In the upcoming weeks I will be discussing the Zones of Regulation with all of our Intermediate School Warriors! The Zones of Regulation give our students a concrete example of what they are feeling and how to handle different emotional states. For more information you can follow this link. In our lessons, students learn how to use strategies or tools to stay in a zone or move from one to another. Students explore calming techniques, cognitive strategies, and sensory supports so they will have a toolbox of methods to use to move between zones. To deepen students’ understanding of how to self-regulate, the lessons set out to teach students these skills: how to read others’ facial expressions and recognize a broader range of emotions, perspective about how others see and react to their behavior, insight into events that trigger their less regulated states, and when and how to use tools and problem solving skills. If you have any questions about how these tools can help your students outside of school please feel free to contact me at anytime.
