Tick Information and Removal Tips
Mrs. Coulson wants all parents and staff members to know that year may be a VERY bad year for ticks. She has already assisted several students and staff members with removal and sharing of tips.
Easy 3 step removal without tweezers or pulling out by hand..
- Soak a cotton ball (Q-tip, tissue piece, paper towel etc) in liquid soap.
- Place the cotton ball on the tick.
- Rotate counter-clockwise.
The tick comes off whole!!!
This is much better than the usual tweezers way because there is no chance of leaving some of the tick behind. This method will work for pets as well.

Doctor's written excuses must now be submitted within 5 school days. If your child visits a medical practitioner and they are absent from school, please ask for a note. You can also have it faxed to our school at 401-633-7078.
Exempt Absences
Exempt absences include a student’s participation in an approved school-sponsored activity, suspension days, religious holidays, a death in the family, a doctor-excused illness or injury (doctor’s written excuse must be submitted no later than five (5) school days following the absence), a school nurse teacher-excused illness or injury, court appearance, military deployment event, or dismissal from school by school principal or designee.

PARCC and NECAP Testing Updates:
We will continue with Gr. 3 ELA on Monday and then will switch to Gr. 4 Math on Wednesday.
A full breakfast will be offered to all students who are participating in a morning testing session. Following a grade level breakfast social, students will get some exercise before testing begins.
A mint will be offered to each student to help them to stay focussed on the assessment. There is research that shows the benefits of peppermint oil.

Updated Transportation Policy
Each parent/guardian requesting transportation services to and/or from a Chariho school, so long as the requirements of I.A. above are met, must register in accord with guidelines established by the Superintendent of Schools. Parents/Guardians of students who attend private schools located in one of the member towns must register as if the student attended a Chariho school; all elements of this policy shall apply. Parents/Guardians of students who attend private schools within Chariho’s transportation region (Region 4), but outside of the District, must register for transportation with the Statewide Student Transportation System.
Approve of transportation requests will be rescinded when a student does not utilize transportation services for ten (10) consecutive days if there is no notification with reasonable explanation to the transportation provider.
